What new (or old) game do you love?

Shadow of The Beast was excellent. First version I got of that had been maimed during cracking and most layers of the much-vaunted parallax scrolling were like organic gauzy meshes in front of the main sprite instead of behind him... difficult to play.

I had to look up Cool Boarders but remember playing that a bit and could never understand why it was popular even on launch, twas so little fun to play. And that voiceover! Then when you reach the end of a track there's crowd noise which is about a second long, and looped really, really obviously. So you get in and they all go 'EurghWAHEurghWAHEurghWAHEurghWAHEurghWAHEurghWAHEurghWAHEurghWAH'. Seriously ten or fifteen years behind the times.

Yeah looking back, Cool Boarders was not great, though I remember really enjoying the third one and getting hell of excited cos I played it in the US before it came out here. Me mate and I bought em not so long ago tho and yeah, shite. I can actually hear the noise you're on about in my head haha.

SSX, now that's a fucking snowboarding game.

Agreed, SSX Tricky was my favourite simply because of the soundtrack. When you left the ground the beat would be taken out of the track playing and when you landed a sweet ass move or whatever dude, the beat would drop back in seamlessly. Loved that. Like when you jumped on Yoshi in Super Mario World and a bongo line would be added to the soundtrack. Great stuff.

Remember taking months to save up for the PS1..

omg Dizzy <3

Can't believe I didn't mention the first two Monkey Islands. Or maybe I did. Anyway, the first two Monkey Islands. Insult sword fighting was the most hilarious fucking thing. Also Myst. And Hugo's House of Horrors. Said it before but the sound effect when the spider bites Penelope in the third game is the best sound effect ever and now I need to go find it for my phone.

Hey I mentioned Monkey Island! I LOVED that game!

Hell yeah :D Think that series formed a lot of my sense of humour. The episodic ones aren't bad Ben, though I have to admit I've only played like half of the first one, but yeah from what I've played, worth a shot. They must be fairly cheap and all as I have all of em, and am broke, but also drunk when I make purchases.

Ahhhhh you just legit gave me nostalgia chills :D I wanna play Broken Sword now, and FF7 is probably my favourite game. Sadly Cool Boarders ain't aged well, almost unplayable now :( Legit SFX tho.

On the whole, the series was not all that great. There was a change of development team when number 3 was released.

However, the exception (for me at least) was number 2 (pictured). It had one of the best soundtracks I've known in a game (really nice DnB) that really suited the atmosphere of the snowy mountains. It was fast, picturesque, tons of options and modes, secrets... and most amazingly, it actually inspired me to take up snowboarding for real.

I adored that game. Played it to death, then came back to it years later.

Fuck, you're making me wanna go back to it now. Forgot about the change of dev, though looking back it was noticeable. To be honest I kinda liked the visual style of the first two games, even though it was objectively shit. God I'd love to actually snowboard in real life, where d'you go for it? Me uncle does it and I reckon I'd be alright at it, shite at skiing but used to skateboard.

Gonna whack Journey on in a bit I reckons, anyone else into it or played it? Love shit like that. Wanna get on Skyrim and all, fuck knows where my copy is though.

edit: How the fuck did I not remember Tony Hawk's?! That series was boss as fuck up to about the third one. Brilliant soundtrack, was partially responsible for my love of rap now. Got the HD collection on PSN not so long ago, summat about it's not quite right but it's brilliant to waste a few hours on still.

Yeah got Journey, now you've mentioned it i might have another go on it, not properly into it, noticed its got a really good review

.

The game inspired me to go snowboarding. Though never actually got round to it, thans to my unaccomadating lifestye of recent years... finally im hoping to go to the alps.

It was deveoped by uep systems, i followed them up and got their next game on the dreamcast. They lost the "cool boarders" title to sony, so named it "Snow surfers". This game didn't capture the magic of CB2 at all.... playable, but loads of flaws and shortlived. After that uep seemed to die.

FF7 is my favourite game of all time BTW. FF7 is more than a great gaming experience. Playing through FF7 is one of my greatest experiences of LIFE.

Super Mario Bros 3
Road Rash
Worms Armageddon (and Revolution)
Counter-Strike 1.6
The original Alien Vs Predator for PC
TFC

and

Duke Nukem 3D

God yeah, unreal tournament goty edition was ace. All those mods.. wicked

Runescape. Racked up 400 days game play total in like 3 years max? Addiction.
San Andreas, the only GTA I ever enjoyed. GTA IV is alright but i just end up using an assault rifle killing cops.
I play cod with my little brother split screen, my internet isn't worth going online for.

Back in the day though there was this like mite circus? Ant Circus? I dunno, some small insect circus. You just make pyramids and shit to go up levels.
Worms. The original 'destroy everything' game.

Oh, nothing brings back the nostalgia like Pokemon Red emulator.
Thank god for the 100x speed button for those battlets
