What new (or old) game do you love?

Woohooooo, found a youtube of Firefox

Only ever came across that a few times. Was expensive too as you say.

That looks well swish, no wonder it was 50p.

Star Wars

God that game was shite.

Lies! One of me alltime fave games was that <3

Empire Strikes Back was better but seemed pretty hard to find. Most places only had Star Wars. Return of the Jedi was shit though.

Pac-Land for me.

Loved it. Was fukkin bolt hard though 8o

I absolutely adored arcade games as a kid. Every holiday all I did was play arcade games. Last holiday I went on with a mate and his mum (would've been ~12 at the time) we managed to find an arcade that had everything at 10p. We basically lived in there for the entire week. Plus his mum won the jackpot on the bingo so had a gazillion lil voucher thingies so we ended up getting loads of free stuff and free goes on stuff too. Was class. We completed so many games that week it was ridiculous. Only time I've ever completed any arcade games actually (MAME doesn't count cos it's free :p). 10p arcades + youthful enthusiasm = pleasingly wasted youth <3

It was only shite because I was shite at it.

Oh yeah what was with Return Of The Jedi? Messed that up with the top down speeder thing.

Talking of finishing arcade games. Fuck. Reminded me. Me and my Brother were stood watching this fella play The Simpsons four player beat em up. He goes wanna jump in? So we did, I got fucking Marge. Story of my life, anyway evvery time we died he just hit the credit button, not sure if he had put a fuck ton of cash in there or the machine had got stcuk or somwething but we played through to end. Then he goes cheers for that lads nice one and walked off. We did too, fucking beaming.

There really is something so deeply satisfying about actually completing an arcade game isn't there? I think it's cos they're mostly so bastard difficult - stupidly so in some cases. I <3 me a lil MAME-based nostalgia but it's never quite the same as desperately shovelling in more coins as the timer ticks down cos you'd got further than ever before - and then just missing the 1UP button 8o8(8o

Or having a credit and hitting the wrong button repeatedly excitedly and its the one that speeds up the counter.

Shinobi did that to me.

Ha ha MAME, I do emulators and Mame, they just sit on discs though. I fire one up to see it works then put it one side and never go back.

Was a bit of a holy grail to get GTI-Club working with an xbox 360 controller. I couldn't be done when I collected the first MAME rom-set.

They have it working now but to be honest it probably will never be as good as my memory tells me it was sat in a hot sweaty dark smokefilled arcade in a proper cabinet. With actual money riding on my performance.

Had forgotten about that counter speedy-up button - what kinda twisted cunt thought that one up?!? :!:X:!

Am similar with MAME. Fire it up now and then for a bit of a blast but rarely get really into a game for any great length of time. Even ones I <3. Great that it exists... but the true joys of arcade games is all in the set & setting, I'd say.

Other emus I can make proper use of now and then cos the games are designed for home use. Although I'm less inclined to put up with ropey games d/l for nowt than I was if I'd unwisely spent actual cashmoney on so can be a tad impatient with 'em.

Ha ha.

Shambles so many memories. I could kill the bastard who put that fucking button so near to the continue one in Shinobi the one time I had got that fucking far in the bastard. Cleared the ninja star extra stage was deep into the second stage on a single credit. Had another (last) credit already in the machine. 10,3,1 What? NOOOOO. Only choice was to start from scratch. Heart broken.

Its crazy. I used to save my pocket for two weeks to be able to go to see a dodgy man with a full beard who would sell me a tape cassette. I would get home and it would take forever to load. Sometimes not at all. Then it was crap. I was going to play that fucker no matter what after that.

Today I get the best HD surround sound multi million pound costing epics with a click of a button for nothing and install it and go, oh that's pretty and bin it.

Kids.

Don't know they are born.

fifa does.

Know someone who got so wound up with the other football game pes he threw his controller at my head as hard as he could and it fucking hurt. So I tend to agree.

GTA and Starcraft from about 10 years ago, was the last time i played and got really addicted to games. Like noticing i was really hungry and then looking at my watch to see 8 hours had passed. Really loved starcraft right down to the individual characters under my control.

The scale of both games was huge, so just getting to know the lay of the land took several days. Starcraft had several different maps if i remember correctly.

Just borrowed this from a mate for the Wii, along with a couple of House of The Dead games....all our Wii games are with our son in mind, and apart from Mario kart I don't really use it....

And a nice oversized q of NYCD for £50. =D

Productive afternoon.

Beatmania IIDX.

If you don't know what it is, IIDX was a music game for the PS2 created only in Japan. It's easier for me to post a video of it than it is to explain how the game works, so here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7J2R1j4j9A

Despite being incredibly difficult, it was actually a load of fun.

My old workmate has an ace claim to fame he worked on rigs with me but weekends. At home had a small band called nightshift played local nightspots etc one weekend a guy waited till end of night an asked him if he would help him out ,mark said sure what so guy asked em to come to a studio and record a few songs for a game mark asked which but guy said look you do or not there's £400 each in it for you ,turns out was the band lovefist in vice city!
