What is the point of life?

first of all, whos they? I thought the father son and spirit were one? Second of all, you say they made man to lavish love upon them? Then how do you account for the massive amounts of suffering in the world?

It's a trinity or called the Godhead. It's God (Father) God (Son: Jesus) God (Holy Spirit). There 3 seperate beings with different roles yet are 1 & agree 100% with each other.

I'll explain it like this. There has been a command 2 go switch on a light.

God is the one giving the command to go switch it on. Jesus is the one who does the command & does what the father wants & switches it on & the Holy Spirit is that electricity that lights it, He's the power of it all. There all working 2gether yet are 1.

The account 4 suffering is because of sin in the world & because of the choices people make. Such things must come. Just because suffering is in the world that doesnt stop 1 from receiving God's love.

So that would make it profoundly right because in the light of gods love you cant be liek unhappy. for any reason. because... he makes the rules. and theoretically makes all the logic.

odd.

Of course you can be unhappy. We still experience things of this world, we have been given a way out of that unhappiness through Jesus. Jesus died on that cross ova 2000 years ago for all our sin, sickness, dieseases, fear, unhappiness, poverty, all the bad stuff he took upon himself so that we could live a happy fulfilled life. Those things will still come upon us we just have 2 stay in God's word 2 get over it. & i myself can tell you 4 fact that it works.

Well, I just smacked god across the face; pulled his head, by his hair to my crotch.. and of course, had him suck it. He said you're insane. like 8( ..insane...

No point, all a series of distractions before you die.

totally agree, there is no point in life. Just a series of thing that will happens until you die.
Some good and some bad.

The game of life is a game of boomerangs. Our thoughts, deeds and words return to us sooner or later with astounding accuracy. ~ Florence Scovel Shinn American Artist, Metaphysics Teacher, Author
To find the point where hypothesis and fact meet; the delicate equilibrium between dream and reality; the place where fantasy and earthly things are metamorphosed into a work of art; the hour when faith in the future becomes knowledge of the past; to lay down one's power for others in need; to shake off the old ordeal and get ready for the new; to question, knowing that never can the full answer be found; to accept uncertainties quietly, even our incomplete knowledge of God; this is what man's journey is about, I think. ~ Lillian Smith 1897-1966, American Author
Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes. Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it, than to accept life unquestioningly. Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate or despise, serves to defeat us in the end. What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength, if faced with an open mind. Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognize it as such. ~Henry Miller 1891-1980, American Author

these words are here because of the goddamn post quota;)

the search for enlightenment has nothing to do with being religious ;)

we don't know the meaning of life, so devote your life to searching for that meaning. assume nothing, leave no stone unturned.

It is my opinion that humanity should be devoting all of its resources to this task, rather than wasting so much energy trying to steal each others money.

*edit*
I was originally of the opinion that there was no meaning , being raised in a scientific background.. but if there is no meaning, why would anything exist? its like saying animals evolved to have a pointless limb or organ. . they dont though. things only arise where there is a use.

perhaps we're just some cosmic calculator? who knows. . but I honestly believe that there IS a reason for existence. what that is i have no idea.

Not dying? That makes no sense since we all die eventually.:\

This life determines the after life. Yes i know many of you dont believe in it. Thats up 2 you, im just telling you how it is. There's more 2 existance than what we see.

We are merely bacteria on a small little point in the universe that is a cogwheel in an infinitly larger cosmic machine that can't be conceived within the current limits of conciousness......the best thing we can do as people is to be ourselves, as long as it doesn't cause unnecessary pain for other people

You can believe in what ever you want.

It's a fairly well known concept that the point of life is living, that is a given. What is the point of existing without cause or a goal? That was the question.

Many of the most pursuasive arguments have no 'point' - instead, they give us options, signposts, little gauges to tell us how far we've strayed... in searching for a definitive 'point' to life, you are overlooking the obvious.

Life is what it is - the point you are looking for is right in front of you. Can you smell? See? Hear? Touch? Taste? Think? Imagine? These are your tools - use them, everyday. You may not realise it, but by simply experiencing your surroundings through your senses, your spirit is gathering and processing a million different perspectives to further your spiritual developement on this plane.

You are a piece of the puzzle; an answer to your own questions.

Don't waste time trying to get a logical, tangible reason to live - because your reason or 'point' will be different to mine; and mine different to the next person.

Go outside, and EXPERIENCE your life first hand. Taste the blood, feel the cold, hear the laughter... and know it's not for nothing.

i hope i didn't post allready...

under the neitzche train of thought... the creating of happiness for others is purely self-focused, in that others being happy will make you happy.

life is all about you... for humanity, life is a self-destructive, selfish, self-obsessive, pointless, wasteful voyage. but we can still have fun, right?

the purpose of life is to experience.

according to Kaballah, Creation occured because "God wished to behold God," thus 'split' himself into everyone and everything, and when everything possible has been experienced and brought about by free will, all existence will be reunited with God.

There is no point to life .
the concept of a "point" is not a human discovery of a truth, it is a human invention .

Almost as sufficient as this

would be what the REAL, The ORIGINAL gnostics thought the universe was perfect when it was empty and nothingness, but suddenly STUFF and LIFE appeared which is all a big flaw which will eventually go away !

have you read the book about the gnostics by Jaques Lacarriere ? Poetic and dramatic but still top notch for learning a new way of looking at
the world and ps. there is no point !

Memories are nothing, legacies are nothing.
