What has the rave scene come to? :(

The Rave Scene. Has Been Hijacked. By Sexually Confused. Molly Gobbling. N00bs. To Electronic Musick. By Dubstep. &it's Aficionados.

~Too many alternative mainstream bros reppin' they coolness with hyper-capitalist icy tees and how fucked up they can get and then post the pictures to t3h interwebz. Sexy yes, but annoying after a while when nobody knows shit about the history of Electronic (dance and other genres) music.

Maybe it's just a Colorado thing though. ^_^

I'm only 23, but ugh: bring back the freaks, bring back PLUR!

Any bastion of LSD is similar to this. Sad state, but true more or less.

Just to touch on the overall mentality of the rave culture, I think it all depends on what city, and which club. Like at my rave club, it's straight PLUR. Good example, I've been going to Afterlife in Dallas for about a year, and I've NEVER seen anything like that, I've never even seen a fight in the club.

That's why PLUR is an amazing philosophy. If everyone keeps it in mind, no problems ever arise

Yeah that place is great. Its changed quite a bit since I started going there over 2 years ago, though. There used to be a lot more kandi, its gotten a lot more club-like now. Still great place to go to though.

I agree..the rave scene has indeed been hijacked.

Raves are a lot more popular now then they used to be. Especially Massives... I see half my graduating class when I go to these now. I like that more people are getting into the style of music and just letting go and having fun. But with so many new people you are also going to get the assholes who love to start shit.

Blah blah blah, rave scene this, rave scene that, blah blah blah :p

Subcultures get popular and kids come out to get fucked up. It happened to the hippies and it happened to hip hop. Raves are just popular right now. The scene has not changed at all. There have always been e-tards and there always will be e-tards. What does a petty thug do when they hear there is an awesome party with great drugs and young women? They go to it.

Give it a decade, raving won't be popular anymore, it'll be something else. Then you'll start to hear the people of that subculture bitching about how their scene has totally gone downhill and that these new kids are ruining it.

Pick your events and pick who you rave with. There are still good events out there that dont have 16 year olds running around in pasties while they're completely faced on three beans and a couple tabs.

whineeeeee whineeee whine

EDIT: PLUR is the dumbest fucking acronym on the face of the Earth. I've had people talk about how it's dead but sorry to say it was never alive in the first place. It happens to every new raver, they get introduced to X and live in a chemical-fueled happylovefestuniverse until their tolerance kicks in and they get all cranky and start to complain. If you're a douche, you're a douche. If you're not a douche, you're not a douche. PLUR is all fine and dandy but you all sound soooooo fucking stupid talking about it because everyone selectively applies it to who they think MIGHT deserve to be treated like a god damn human being.

My view of it is much more simple. Treat everyone respectfully and in a polite manner until they give me a reason not to. Oh man, I just described being a decent human being without sounding like a tool. GASP!

EDIT2: I'm totally not jaded or anything. Seeing people complain about 'scenes' just irks me.

Oh, and about the OP's article. Always tragic to hear things like this. I hope the victim learns to cope with it and leads a healthy life. Glad the two kids are going to jail where they can get a taste of their own medicine.
