What great band have you just discovered?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Maus

the song "Cop Killer" won me over, only heard his most recent album, seems to have quite a catalog... if its half as good as "We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves" ill be a happy d00d.

oh and Vatican Shadow, one man aka Prurient aka guy from Cold Cave. appears to be experimental electronic leaning exercises inspired by the war on terror. Bin Laden's Corpse

My friend tried to turn me on to Split Lip Rayfield like 7 years ago and I just now got around to listening to them. Kickass music with great lyrics. I picked this song mainly because it sounded better than most of the live recordings on YouTube.

Notice the bass player jamming on a one-string, gas tank bass.

love the Split Lip

Dokken (my kung fu teacher got me into them)
now, everything about this post is straight... genius

Really loving Shack and their numerous incarnations right now. Vaguely remember the name from first time around early 90s but they were never really on my radar, probably because Michael Head was too fucked up and strung out to really make much of the breaks he had at the time. Losing the master tapes to Waterpistol at a time when it would have really had some impact slotting in nicely somewhere between Stone Roses and The La's must have killed them. Too late by the time it was eventually released by the looks of things. Time Machine's a great intro to Michael Head's particular brand of British psychedelia.

Ween-well of course..amazing
Sigur Ros-honestly ive tried..but..gag me..even high as fuck i just couldnt EVEN EVEN like it..some hipster told me i wasnt "patient" enough to appreciate it..so be it, they suck
someone mentioned "the living end" great band
Pitchfork-dont read it, stay away..it will only confuse matters..who are these writers? Columbia creative writing grads who use WAY to many adjectives and just suck at life and use unknown insufferable hipster bands as a reference to describe other unknown insufferable hipster bands...f i HAD to read a music blog (which i wont) i would go with brooklyn Vegan...at least there is less pretense
the Black Keys-white boys doing Buddy Guy
Lately ive been going backwards..to Sam Cooke, Bruce Springsteen,Robert Bradley,etc...good shit!
i will say i like "the hold steady" awesome

I thought I had already been aware of Heartless Bastards but I suppose I had not. Maybe their last album was something I had downloaded but never got around to listening to. However, I am well aware of them now, have been listening to The Mountain quite a bit the past few days, and my friend just informed me they are going to be playing here in February. Oh yes.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Princess Chelsea with her first and only-yet album, Lil' Golden Book.

The Cigarette Duet caught my attention. it took me a minute to develop appreciation for the rest the album. but now i love.

she has a song speaking out against the party-hardy culture. cite "We Real Cool" as inspiration? so uncool she's cool -- that's pop, right?
