What Gauge do you use?

I always used either 27g or 30g 1/2" BD tips, with 1-3mL BD barrels (luer lock), along with 0.2um then 0.02um filtering (grabs anything but small molecules). I also usually prepared a fair amount of solution so I didn't have to prep each shot (I would use pH 6.8-7.2 acetate buffer to slow ester hydrolosis via le Chatleare's principal).

27G 1cc 1/2" Terumos.

Anything wider, and there's too much damage. Anything skinnier and they bend and register harder. As for the brand, I find that the plunger on Terumo's are much smoother than the other ones I have tried.

27g 1/2" is perfect for the reasons phrozen stated. 29 and 30g bend easily and are generally hard to register. Terumo's are the only brand I've used in the past.

I'm limited in what I can use to begin with. Have to use a long tip because I'm overweight (can't reach arm veins even vertically with shorts) and my hand veins are all gone, and vertical into the wrist is the only way I'm hitting it with a short tip so I avoid those as best I can. Have to use a 1cc rig; can't use larger because I can't find more than 1cc with 28g or smaller, and I inject way too much to use something larger; can't use less than 1cc because I already can only get half my usual dosage into 1cc (oxycodone; solubility 166mg/ml). So I usually go with BD 30g 1/2" 1cc; only one pharmacy around here will sell without a script and they don't carry Terumo, other option is Reli-On from Wal-Mart, which blow.

^^That sucks so bad you cant get fits without a script in some places, so stupid, its not like a needle IS a fucking drug. Most pharmacies around here dont even sell fits, I gotta go to a vender which is a good thing for sure, but you'd think more pharmacies(and really the government) would be willing to help out the IDU community for f**ks sake it stops the spread of deadly viruses, how can that be bad?.

im fine with 27-to 31 g long needle 1/2" , 1cc but im thinking of ordering some 2-3cc barrels with the removable tips

i really like BD but some times i buy RELI-ON brand its fucking 13cents each ,but i find somtimes the needle is bent a bit onsome ,so 90% of the time i use BD

i have used 26g and damn that actually hurt a bit

Hopefully that user was joking. Using a lower gauge (bigger) needle can tear up your veins and do a lot more damage much quicker and easier than a smaller insulin 28g needle can. Of course even with the proper needle it helps to have good technique. Sometimes I wish I had more experience using needles, but I suppose it's just as well.

25G needle is good for shooting the pharmaceutical liquid benzo emulsions (not including midazolam ampulles). They're 40% propylene glycol and 60% water (+some preseratives).

They have quite a bit more viscosity than just water based solutions. Needless to say they're not meant for daily use (the fuckers do burn).

Only way to get needles here is to drive to the Needle Exchange in LA which is about a hour or 2 drive and they're only open certain times. So I use whatever gauge I can get my hands on. Usually find a diabetic with a lot of needles that either sells them or gives for free. 1 rig usually goes for 5$ if you don't know anyone here.

I use 30g 1cc long tip. The tend to work good for hitting everywhere. The short tips make for registering in the hand instantaneous though, easier to hold/manuever too IMO(the veins in my hand bulge, the ones in my arm do not). I used to like the 1/2cc only for the reason the needle came off and was easier to suck up a shot through cotton, but these days I don't care.
2.75$ for 10 of whatever you need at the local cvs or walgreens, 7$ for 10 of whatever they got at not-so-local-ghetto kmart for same pins, dont need diabetic id there though. (az,usa)

well, lately I have just been using veterinarian needles. they are pretty big (25g), so they hurt but MAN they are so much easier to register with... ehh, i guess that's why i like 27 gauge so much, its small enough not to leave huge holes but big enough that you can register with fairly easily.

Then I came across free needles, which were 28 and 29 gauge, and used those. I didn't like that they were bigger, thus potentially causing the largest mark, but they worked fine, and as others have noticed, its easier to register. Actually, I'll admit, however, I never register. Assuming my needle is sharp, I can feel it enter the vein so I never bother registering. After pressing 1 unit in I can tell if I'm in or not so it doesn't bother me, its just my style; when I register I fuck up and pull it out of the vein.
Also, these larger gauges don't clog like 31s do. I swear with 31s it seems like the needle clogs every 3rd or 4th time. With something like 28s or 29s its way, way less.

So from my experience of using both, I'd say not that I prefer 29 or 30 gauge. Still small enough not to leave a large mark, but not so small that they clog often, and also not too hard to register with, if I do that. I would register if I was doing a shot for someone else, because I can't go by feel then like I can when hitting myself up.

(I'd like to note that I haven't shot up for something like a year, but I wrote that in the present tense because its easier to write that way.)

Ya I probably should do that but until coming on BL I didn't know how accessible rigs were to other people. I thought it was this hard for everyone. It's not uncommon for people here to use a rig until it dulls or clogs then burn it or try any method to try and fix it. Some people keep rigs for 1 month + I have some family members who randomly look at my bank statements and credit card charges so it would be awkward to explain to them why I'm buying rigs online lol. If I can get all my shit private I'll definitely be buying them online and selling to junkies here lol.

Thats insane you don't need to register. I can never feel it going into my vein or I don't notice it so I always register. Would save so much time knowing exactly where it is though by feel.

I use 27g because they're the easiest/cheapest for me to get in a luer. I use a glass syringe because I have access to an autoclave so it saves lots of money just replacing the needles. Plus I remember reading glass is the only way to go with some chemicals. I went with 2cc (I marked 3cc btw) because 1cc was too small back when I did tons of K. Plus sometimes with 1cc I pull the plunger all the way out when I'm intoxicated and of course waste it. 8)

Also I prefer the luer slip on versus lock in (or whatever they're called) because sometimes when the K dries a bit it's hard to unlock. Plus, I tend to hurt myself when they're being stubborn.


My friend once used a 16g needle. I have tons of them for piercing since hypodermic ones are much cheaper. It was hilarious, I had it on video but my computer was stolen. He didn’t have a drug problem or anything, then it just would have been sad.

The 30g 1cc long tips are my favorite and really user friendly. What CVS do you get them from for that price though!? Btw I got your PM but can't reply since I'm still a greenlighter.
