Stoners are gettin a lot of hate here. My drug of choice is definitely opaites, opioids, etc but the the circle of friends/acquaintances I'm in is definitely stoners. Don't get me wrong, I do see a lot of the types of stoners most of you seem to be referring to, but the people I'm hangin out with every day definitely aren't pretentious and they definitely don't try to act like they aren't addicted to weed. Actually, if someones being an asshole and you call them out on it, a lot of times you get something like: "sorry man... I can be a dick when I haven't smoked in a while". A lot of us understand that weed IS addictive. Maybe the physical withdrawal is very light compared to must drugs but I DEFINITELY think there is a light physical withdrawal if you smoke heavily enough. I do dabble into the opiates culture though. Anyway, if I had to think of qualities me and the people I surround myself with on a daily basis share, they would be:
1. In my circle of friends it's definitely considered cliche to talk about any personal problems you're having past maybe "man I got a headache" "sorry to hear that". Everyone seems to generally agree that most drug users have problems, and we generally keep them to ourselves (not to say there haven't been ANY deep 1 on 1 personal issue talks or anything). There are those occasional people around that vent to all of us for some reason and we are understanding, we don't make fun of them, we do our best to comfort them.
2. We tend to be very helpful, say... if someones busy or tired and want something from the store, someone else may offer to run and get it. It's not hard to ask for a favor, like someone coming over to help rearrange furniture or something.
3. (This one is a specific house, but I'm there a lot) We are all complete assholes to each other (I never got into it but I got used to it). I'll be nodding off and I'll open my eyes and there's a stick in my face and my heart jumps haha. Or... I get hit in the head with a bottle cap. There's also a lot of nicknames (mines brokeback) and there's a lot of "Hey" "yea" "fuck you". Everyone takes it easy on people that aren't in the group though, unless they start doing it. They'll knock it off if they know you're annoyed. If you did something stupid and they're like "Why are you always actin so stupid" and you're like "whatever..." they'll knock it off, but if you're like "whatever asshole" it continues.
4. We tend do be very tolerant of all types of drug users. If you notice someone slipping into a hole we let them know and try to help, but we won't get mad or abandon them. I do think some of my friends look down on me for my use of opiates though.
5. Everyone I hang out with, even most of the people i know who aren't really close friends, are very non-stingy. I've seen this all over the stoner culture. It's considered rude to smoke by yourself in front of everyone, actually it's VERY looked down upon. Maybe this seems stingy in itself, but it's not even like that. When it's not you're weed it's also considered rude to take a big hit, rule of thumb, is if you cough your hit was to big and you get the "Woah, don't kill yourself now." comments. As far as the people I hang out with daily, they'll go as far as waiting for someone to arrive, if they know they'll be there in a couple hours, to smoke if there's only a couple bowls left.
6. No thieves. Don't get me wrong, if there's a wallet on the ground with money in it, most of us would take the money, but we would most likely try to locate the person if there was anything in the wallet, call him, and drop it off somewhere. How hard someone would look depends on the importance of the contents I guess. Claiming someone is a thief is NOT taken lightly. If someone is suspected it is kept quiet until there is proof, we would probably set "traps". Once someone is considered a thief word spreads far.
7. (Just the daily guys) Borrowing money is very easy, and I've never had a problem with someone not paying me back. I have been waiting on some money for like a week now though... (The time it will take for the money to be paid back is not generally established, unless it is a large sum of money)
8. Information is very valuable with my friends, and as far as the close friends, sensitive information is treated as such.
9. Animals are to be treated with respect, I've seen my friend feed his dog when he hadn't eaten all day. I go a bit further with this though. I had to grab my friends hand to prevent him from burning a mosquito today, and then I threw it outside before he could get it XD.
10. Loyalty runs deep. If someone gets fucked over, we all get fucked over. If someone gets robbed with someone else's money, that person generally pays them back until we can find a way to get the money back. It's not like they would be threatened or anything, that's just generally how it happens. "Hey man, I got robbed, I can pay you back tomorrow though." (Assuming it takes that long to get the money back XD) Don't get me wrong, if I get robbed for 60 bucks I wouldn't put much of an effort up to get it back. If I knew where he lived, I would probably knock on his door and ask for it, but that's about it.)
11. If you break someones bowl, you buy it, or give them a bowl that equals relatively the same value. It IS situational though, if you have one little $10 bowl and, the other guy has 3 bongs in the cabinet, and you're broke as shit, it's usually forgiven.
12. Everyone is very much into the whole "to each their own" thing.
13. We smoke pretty much every day, considering the whole sharing thing. Most of the time it's one or two people smoking everyone else up on a g or 2. But, the people rotate, and people get called out when they haven't thrown down in a while. (I'm probably one of the people that throw down the least cause I spend most of my money on opiates (opioids w/e), but it seems pretty forgiven, because before that I probably threw down the most, and I'll do things like help out with a certain persons anti-psychotics when he's broke (he doesn't smoke) )
14. Most stoners in this area dabble in psychedelics (for some reason I have a bad "thinking about death and nihilism bla bla bla" trip every time, so i don't fuck with them)
15. I don't know if it's the same in all areas, but most of the stoner culture around here dabble in most other drugs. One weird thing I've noticed is that heroin is very frowned upon around here, but prescription painkillers aren't considered as bad. Needles seem to be frowned upon in general, but I mean even snorting it or something else besides injecting. My friends don't know I've fucked with heroin due to this fact. I would more so if it were available, due to the price, but it's not.
Not all of this is true all the time, and there's plenty more, but this is just off the top of my head. I just wanted to say, not all stoners are the same.

". I simply reply "I like the music, why else would I go?". Some are just too ignorant to get it. I will admit Ive been on drugs at 90% of the events Ive attended, but every single event had at least one DJ that I wanted to see live.
