not everyone consumes pot to get stoned.
the plant itself has many medicinal uses outside of recreation and could very well be an important factor contributing to human evolution and our understanding of the human body.
1. our brains developed cannabinoid receptors, which are found in everything from chocolate and cashews and in higher concentrations in MJ.
2. our bodies naturally produce cannabinoids as well that are used to regulate the way in which long term memories are made along with playing a role in particular cognitive functions within the hippocampus.
I don't know what the draw is for people and MJ, perhaps some people suffer from a sort of chemical imbalance or ill-regulation of their nervous system (which could be due to any number of other factors, eg. diet, genetic, etc etc) that MJ provides temporary relief from, as science of the human body progresses hopefully society and it's laws will follow, I mean we wouldn't lock up somebody for taking an aspirin for a headache but yet......
