What do you find most valuable in getting stoned?

I'm pretty curious to hear some of the devout stoners here give me the lowdown.

What, to you, is the most valuable aspect of cannabis intoxication, and why? Is it the recreational value? Is it therapeutic in some way? Are these positive aspects only temporary, while the drug lasts, or do you think that cannabis serves to permanently expand your mind, or offer you lasting benefits of some sort?

The easy sleeps, the relaxation, the closed eye visual, and the enjoyment of food =) oh, and sex, cannnnnnnot forget that... hahah.

I really enjoy how much it relaxes me and makes me find things much more funny.

For example: Smoking a joint and watching a funny movie is a great time because not only are you completely still and relaxed you laugh at things you wouldn't normally laugh at and you think about things you normally wouldn't think about.

Thats what I really enjoy about smoking Cannabis.

PS - Also helps me sleep

After almost a thirty year hiatus from weed I got my medical card because I found that it is the only thing that truly helps me sleep. The problem is that I am a total lightweight so if my edible (don't smoke) is stronger than usual it can make me feel high the next morning which I usually don't appreciate because I only use it on work nights.

I also appreciate it when my friends do it because it makes everything funnier. My laugh reflex is already set on the highest setting but when theirs get turned up it is my favorite kind of group hilarity--makes anything fun!

Since I tried it again for sleep I thought I would give it a try for painting since that is what I do. Ha! Not good. I just sat there staring at the big white canvas while my mind thought of all sorts of wonderful ideas that never even made it to the brush let alone the canvas LOL.

My kid and my husband both smoke and I must admit, it is one of my favorite smells.:)

Anxiety/stress-relief. I get pretty stressed out and am diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, so basically I worry about things that most people find insignificant and not worth the stress. Cannabis slows my mind down, or, to put it like Katt Williams, it puts that "Fuck it" in my system.

I love benzo's (Xanax/alprazolam and Valium/diazepam especially) too much for my own good. I can get a prescription for them with no problem, but end up abusing the hell out of them and Xanax withdrawals are a bitch for me. With weed it's not an issue, though it's easy to get dependent on that, as well.

Smoking weed for stress relief can very easily backfire if I don't have the right strain, though. Sativa's get my mind racing even more than if I hadn't smoked it, while Indica-dominant strains are much more therapeutic/medicinal for me. The only problem? The fucking thing's illegal, and it's a bitch to land a stable, nice-paying job as a stoner.

I like the intense introspection and mind expanding aspects of the experience and its spiritual to, so if I have things to ponder about I do so a bit stoned and with music you know take a nice bike, car ride.

Introspection, Relaxation and Therapeutic effects are what keep me coming back. I usually always crave some kind of high, a mental stimulation if you will. In my mind, it's much better to smoke a dub than it is to take an Oxy 30. I try to switch it up from time to time so I don't get hooked to anything in particular. That's why I always come back to smoking weed, because sometimes I know smoking rather than taking a harder drug is the safer, smarter route.

Is weed good for pain really ?

Certain strains are better than others. I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to strain-specific qualities, but there are definitely some people around here that could give you better insight to which would be best for pain relief. I would think you'd want a nice, stoney indica, but past that I can't really tell you much more. It's not all about THC-content, you also have to keep in mind the certain cannabinoids that particular strains differ in.

I know most, if not all, medical dispensaries can give you great info about what they have in stock that can best relieve the symptoms you're trying to cure. Unfortunately, we don't all live in states that have dispensaries (myself included).

I'd like to put my two cents here and just say- that as opposed to how I feel on a normal basis in which I get SOOO easily overwhelmed (highly sensitive) Cannabis causes me to be LESS sensitive to everything and allows me to only focus on one thing alone. I love how I can just relax and if my thoughts transfer to something uneasy it's a piece-of-cake to make them change.... Also, it's a BIG help with my depression problems.

Honestly, what I love about smoking bud, is that all the little things make you really happy.
For example alot of the time I smoke bud alone and I'm switching channels and nothing I like is on, and then like 5 minutes later I see that Family Guy is starting and I'm like..."Yeah! Cool :p. heh"

:D,
If u know what I mean?

not everyone consumes pot to get stoned.

the plant itself has many medicinal uses outside of recreation and could very well be an important factor contributing to human evolution and our understanding of the human body.

1. our brains developed cannabinoid receptors, which are found in everything from chocolate and cashews and in higher concentrations in MJ.
2. our bodies naturally produce cannabinoids as well that are used to regulate the way in which long term memories are made along with playing a role in particular cognitive functions within the hippocampus.

I don't know what the draw is for people and MJ, perhaps some people suffer from a sort of chemical imbalance or ill-regulation of their nervous system (which could be due to any number of other factors, eg. diet, genetic, etc etc) that MJ provides temporary relief from, perhaps it interrupts those receptors temporarily so as one poster said "it makes me me".

as science of the human body progresses hopefully society and it's laws will follow, I mean we wouldn't lock up somebody for taking an aspirin for a headache but yet......
