Just read Breaking Open the Head by Daniel Pinchbeck. Sort of an autobiography/brief history on western psychedelic culture and traditional psychedelic shamanism. Worth a read if you're into the topic, but its nothing to really rave about. The most interesting aspects were descriptions of his iboga experience and its effects on his life afterwards. Also a few chapters on Burning Man which increased my desire to make the pilgrimage there one day.
Kingdom of Fear by Hunter S. Thompson. Now a $9.99 Penguin classic!
I just finished reading The Boat by Nam Le....it's a collection of short stories, and they're all unconnected from one another, but all really deeply moving. I fully nearly cried when I read the last one, it's about boat people....it would make an awesome movie if we didn't live in a fucking pig-backward racist shit of a country.
But yeah anyway; awesome book, I highly encourage it. He won the Dylan Thomas award (thanks UAN!).
I have research time for finding hot men, not so much for literary awards....![]()
Does this have a section/chapter in which the protagonist goes to Canada? THink I've read a bit of it and really enjoyed it..
