What are you munching on? v. the cheese n' fish cake crew

I can't think of anything worse than tripping and walking through Withington, the militant homeless guys are bad enough when you are sober =D

Never a truer word spoken. =D

I love this district partly because of said vibrant scuzziness, but it does seem we have the biggest concentration of vagrants in the entire city.

Just found a really nice local bakery, eating savoury pastry goodnesses, croissant with ham and tomato - basic stuff but really tasty :)

jealous of the venison banger casserole.

anyway for me it's been home made spicy tomato soup with cheese. home made soup's the fastest fast food about, if you want it to be. in this one's case heating up a tin of soup isn't much quicker.

Aye gotta love the home made soup, really simple and quick to make and always tasty. Tinned soup is really gash in comparison.

Just demolished A rather nice cantoneese take-away tonight.

So couldnt be arsed cooking, and made A nice change.

Barbecue again. Coconut and thyme chicken, corn-on-the-cob, potato salad, green salad, scrumpy. I fucking love BBQ, hopefully I'll eat nothing else until October.

Would love a BBQ but it isn't even close to the weather for it here yet, was only 3 degrees today. :\

What you have from the chinese dee dee?

Munching a box of After Eights, haven't had them for years and they are too sweet, hurting my teeth.

I had seafood special chow mein, which my local does with steamed crab and fish, king prawns, mushrooms, spring onion and ginger in. It is actually very nice and its cooked with fish stock too.

I can't stand seafood.... *boak*

Really want to get some takeaway from the good local chinese when I've got some money to spare, the Mongolian Beef is delicious. Not like most other chinese round here, no thick and gloopy sauce that tastes artifical, just nice and simple and cooked in spices.

Yeah, mines very good like that.

Its an open kitchen so they cook it in front of you, its all fresh.

Im not the biggest Chinese fan but I make exceptions occasionally.

I'm not sure why all the chinese restaurants round here cook the food with these really thick, gloopy sauces, chinese food isn't like that. I like it when it's cooked properly, not when it's from most of these shit takeaways.

Made breast of chicken casserole for dinner which was lovely on this freezing wintery/spring day. Mars bar from fridge just had now with cup of tea to be followed by about 6 bags of crisps. Like an oul crisp binge from time to time!

@ Whitedove = you should have had a few of them chicken wings.

had a massive bowl of the above wings followed by a ham n chicken pie with a massive portion of chips covered in an ale gravey.

They pen and ink, but are delish. And I've just realised it's the first thing I've eaten all day.

Reibekuchen? Do tell please, Sadie :)

Just munched a steaming bowl of chilli and rice. Chilli was made yesterday and left overnight for added taste. Was made with (reduced) Aberdeen Angus mince, good splash of red wine and Loyd Grossman chilli sauce. After all the Grossman shillery I've indulged in recently they should be sending me crates of the stuff by now. Still waiting. Went for brown rice rather than white today. Really should use it more often cos I like the taste and texture and it definitely adds more body as well as a nice, nutty kinda note to stuff. Depends on what it's accompanying really but went great with chilli. Was yum. But am stuffed and slightly dozy now.

I lost track of time today, and realised I'd better go buy myself something to eat at 9pm. So I took myself to tesco express and bought a healthy choices calorie counter meal of Bangers and mash. Only 300 calories. Add two slices of toast I had for lunch and that was me for the day.

Veg shopping tomorrow to get back on my inventive soup cook ups. I love just shoving random stuff in and seeing what happens. It's all been good so far! Soup diet's good too.
