What are you munching on? v. Put it in a bowl of milk and microwave it

Post-Midnight munchies munched but a moment past consisted of a fishfinger sandwich with mustard mayo and some of those tasty leaves wot are a-growin' on me sill. Not entirely sure what kinda leaves they are but think they may've been radichio. Green with purply tendencies whatever they are. And mightily damn crunchy to boot. As were the fishfingers - battered variety ftw <3

Also, I wish the Co-Op bakery here would bake decent wholemeal bread more often. They hardly ever bother - mostly just stick to squat 'n' skinny plain white bloomers and tigers and ciabattas and that. Decent full-size wholemeal not only makes for a pleasing change of taste and texture but also sticks to yer ribs better and doesn't go stale within five minutes of purchase.

[bread goes] stale within five minutes of purchase.

Since I started freezing bread I've stopped throwing out stale or mouldy bread. FACT!

I normally have three loaves in the freezer and each night I take out four slices and pop them in a tupperware box in the cupboard. It defrosts in a couple of hours and as far as I can tell there is no negative effect on the quality whatsoever. Also if you have an unexpected requirement for a large quantity of toast, frozen bread toasts just fine.

So on those occasions when your co-op bakes the bread you love, stock up!

Have no freezer to speak of, Knock. Just one of those semi-pointless flappy things at the top of the fridge. With a broken doorflap 8)

Meh. Bread is cheap enough and I usually get through it before just flicking the greenish patches off ain't enough. Was more the taste thang that bugs me. Is only the second time in months they've had a decent loaf of wholemeal on the shelf. Probly just my shoddy shopping timing though...

I have a spare fridge/freezer right here I'd love to give you but transport costs would defeat the point....

I know bread is cheap but I normally don't get through a loaf very quickly and I absolutely hate throwing food out. Not really about the cost, more that it's fuckin' food and it should be eaten, not hidden in a hole in the ground! Unless you're a squirrel.

I concur, Knock. Hence not giving up on a loaf till it's more penicillin than not. Just moaning about the fact that much as I'm partial to a tasty freshbaked white loaf, ones wiv crusty crusts are all but pointless unless you eat 'em on the day you buy 'em cos crusty becomes chewy overnight. Not so bad with a nice bloomer but tiger bread (the Co-Ops other staple) is more like shoe leather come the following day. The third option is usually ciabatta which you can use as a blunt instrument at best after 24h. Other than that they just seem to produce oddities at random of varying degrees of interest. Usually got loadsa seeds and stuff in/on and are kinda stodgy and/or in sculpted forms not fit for sarnie purposes.

Got you Shambles, sorry for being slow on the uptake! I'm partial to a french stick / baguette / similar type thing, with slices of ripe brie, but it's always a bit of a let down if the bread is anything more than an hour or two out the oven. But now I've made my own pizza, I might branch out into other breadstuffs! Fresh french stick on demand, that would be nice.

Reminds me of some 'Scandinavian' breakfast I had one time. No idea if it was true to the place but it had all different types of fish and strong cheese on breads (including blue cheese) the fish and cheese was just a bit much when I was waking up.

Bacon Sandwich it is.

Hmm yeah, I had breakfast in Scandinavia a couple of times. Stuff that looked like honey next to the porridge was fucking cod liver oil. The morning's traumatic enough anyway without getting a fright like that. :sus:

havent really eaten anything for ages, not had an appetite at all, just stood on the scales and im now just 10 and a half stone! not good,
i will force some food down me today

Get a few bongs in ya mate, from what I gather you're probably not in the best of form but I know that always helps to get me an appetite.

Psyching self up to make stir fry, stomach has been gimped for the past two weeks due to stress so have only just started eating properly again. Lost about a stone :| But all seems ok now, or at least I'm not spewing when I do eat so progress!

2 beef skewer kebabs and 2 pork then some nasty as fuck spring rolls, fuck knows what was in them but it was vile.

^
Hell that's bad <3

Kinda proud of myself, picked salad from my garden tonight - rocket, young lettuces leaves and these mad purple things %) Will add some spring onions, fresh mint and dressing to have with turkey meatballs, tomato herby sauce & whole-wheat spaghetti.

Man will want a ton of cheese on it :\
