I can be hit and miss. If I know somebody generally has good taste I tend to check their links. Or if it's summat I don't recognise. I skip plenty too but generally cos I know at a glance it ain't my kinda thang.

In other duet news...

David Bowie & Marianne Faithful - I Got You Babe (live)

Another one that's new on me. And blimey was Ms Faithful a bit of a looker 8o

The version-name of this thread has reminded me of one of my top 20 pieces of music ever...

Fila Brazillia - A Zed and Two L's
From their album...

First time I heard this I was in a weed-coma on an extremely comfy sofa with a spliff and a lush cuppa in my hands, and my universe was complete <3

And right back atcha, folks. Had never heard of Camille O'Sullivan but now have. And very good she is too :)

Camille O'Sullivan - Hurt

Gorgeous version <3

thanks for the link, i didny know sh'e covered that. Just given that a spin. Very different to the Johnny Cash version isnt it. In effect its a totally new son, and it will take me at leas a couple of listens to get into it. The slow burners are always the best though eh.

A couple of attacks have been made on the Cave enclave, I'm starting to repair the damage guys.

Am approving of both of the above.

You should look for their album called "heavier than a death in the family"
The only 2 t-shirts I wear from bands are Nirvana - In Utero & Les Rallizes Dénudés (裸のラリーズ, Hadaka no Rallizes) Heavier than a death in the family album.

The recording & music is that heavy too tbh :)

imo the best "sludge metal" band ever.
The leaders of the scene well before eyehategod came along with their South American sludge style.
These guys were right from the UK & as serious as you can get, shame most died of a smack overdose tbh but the 3 albms they got out are always in a top 50 metal albums of all time (99% of the time in the top 5)

Iron Monkey - 9 Joint Spiritual Whip

Peter Perrett - Woke Up Sticky

Noddin' Out, white light
Shadowy figures approach with the night
Strange hands carry me away
I resist in a catatonic way

You were sweet, no doubt
I fell asleep, you melted in my mouth
No point tryin' to hide the stain
I woke up, went back to sleep again

Woke up sticky
Must have been dreamin' of you
Woke up sticky
Don't know where I've been or who I've been through

even though his heroin addiction has fucked perry way past repair; his band "the only ones" are pure top echelon stuff. awesome goth/punk /. guitar solos, whatever, they were just fukin great.

Thanks to John Peel (RIP) for bringing then to my attention.

i saw pp on jools a few months ago, what a sad wasted skinny wretch of a sight he was. He cant sing any more either. Not that he was ever a great singer, but it fitted the band,

Perrett WAS amazing!

any one see those pics of alex higgins in the last few months of his life ? Thats what PP looks like !!!!!!!!

very good anti-smack example at least, poor soul. Maybe it was his poor soul that inspired the great music of the only ones.

A good intro to anyone who might not have heard them

Whish i could verify this clip but ive lost about 8 pairs of headphones and my pc speakers are fucked so i hope its a good take. They could be a bit hit and miss.

if anyone likes it go for "out there in the night" thats even better imo.

so fuckin good

There are about 10 tracks of this quality on Even Serpents Shine, they've done a double disc anthology too.

Sorry, could babble on for ages, but i'm always delighted when someone else mentions a great obscure band from my era.
