So… it happened. :)

If you don’t get it, you don’t get it, and it sounds like the kind of half-baked sonic offal that any bedroom musician could knock together on a computer (it hasn't been made on a computer at all). Not just that, but with badly-dated computer technology and retreading territory exhausted by others long before.

If you do get My Bloody Valentine and their minimalist, ascetic-aesthetic, then step inside for a second, because:
NSFW:
He’s done it, thank fuck.

And blow me down, it’s strikingly beautiful, in a way that’s impossible to explain to people who don’t care for that kind of dirty-yet-dreamy, lush-yet-minimalist sound. But never mind them, they don’t have a soul.*

Seriously though, I was dreading it. I thought it would be a collection of directionless noodling. Worse, it sounded for all the world like a load of directionless noodling. Until the third listen, by which time I’d kind of given up hope. Then it grabbed my soul and dragged it into an indigo-tinged vortex of gorgeousness and destruction. It’s all about what’s NOT there, if you know what I mean. Sounds oh-so-pretentious until you actually investigate it, whereupon you realise it’s the antithesis of pretentious, overblown rubbish.

*Sorry if I pissed you off there, person-who-doesn’t-have-a-soul. You may well even have a soul for all I know. And I’m not saying that I believe in the objective existence of a ‘soul’, before you start.

I must ask you in good faith, however, why are you reading this? Boredom? Nobody’s THAT bored. Because you couldn’t help but see what kind of florid drivel I’d written? Stop reading posts made by somebody you find objectionable for some unknown reason, especially when they’ve tagged them for the primary purpose of not somehow offending your ever-so-delicate sensibilities. Get a life. I'm on the wind-up. Oh, and fuck off too. ;)

Anyway:

My Bloody Valentine - New You

My Bloody Valentine -In Another Way

My Bloody Valentine - Wonder 2

Can all the would-be shoegaze revivalists please give up now?

Does anyone else Find that they dont like a particcilar artist until like years after release ?

i mean, i hated Smashing Pumpkins siamiez dream for ages and left it for years. Gave it another chance several years later., Then it wans't off my player for weeks as i loved it to death.

same has happened today, only i belive tis is much more significant

I HAVE LISTENED TO A NICK CAVE ALBUM AND ACTUALLY 'FULLY GOT INTO IT' LOVED IT - KICKING AGAINST THE PRICKS. A TRULY MOMENTOUS DAY. CAVE ALWAYS BELONGE TO ME. lol.

FUCJIN DELIGHTED

I always new there was something great there , but could never quite get it, or get that connection at the proper level of emotional intensity with the songs that i always look for. Gettting it now. Boy. I'm Weeping all the time. (and this IS A GREAT thing for me, i think im hitting PAWS, weeping is far preferreable to hours of numb hollow empty depression. Every morning tyhis week ive hat a huge big wrenching weeping session add loved it)

Into my arms - takes about 2 seconds to bring out cathartic weeping, its a covers album, so there all guarenteed to be classics packed anyway.
Its so good when you finally connect wit a great artist/
the weepimg song OMFG

the weeping song - just fuckin WOW , THE EFFECTS MAY be partially due to my opiate taper, which about 2 days from completion.
ILL DO A TRACK LISY IN A BIT.

if i appear to be going slightly mad its because i am.

Hear hear to the Nick Cave loving, Kicking Against the Pricks is a great album, Something's gotten hold of my heart always stops me in my tracks when I hear the opening few bars, so beautiful.
I've just recently discovered how good Camille O'Sullivan is, she does a few Cave songs as well as Tom Waits, David Bowie, Jacques Brel, worth a mention.

Nick Cave - Into My Arms (This is the best version i can currently find - though there is a much better vesion out there somewhere, might upload the mp3 i have of it somehwere if anyone is interested ?))
