I hated this song when it came out at the end of 2012. Partly because I was doing too many drugs, partly because the new Swans will never be the old Swans, and mostly because it's sung by Karen Fucking O. I don't particularly care for Karen Fucking O, as you might be able to infer from the italics and the 'fucking'.

Now? I think it's so gorgeous that I almost lose myself and get all sentimental. Almost.

And just so you and Mz Marmz know, it makes no difference whatsoever to loading times. NSFW's vidembeds are still slow as fuck to load. I notice it so am sure folk using mobiles or whatever must notice it even more.

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - Stagger Lee (live @ Brixton 2004) - Been my fave version of this tune for years but now has some competition... (the HQ version got pulled a while back though so sound/vid quality is only good as opposed to brilliant, but lawdy is it still pure genius from beginning to end <3)

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Stagger Lee (live @ Glastonbury '13) - Just heard this one tonight and is a great performance. Not got the balls of the above but masterful stagecraft. Or perhaps that should be crowdcraft. The ginger chick with the forehead jewelley must've seriously moistened the neck of the fella she's sat upon.

Nick Cave - Stagger Lee (Amazing version w/ extra lyrics) - Different kinda sound than usual - slower with the emphasis on pianos 'n' strings.

Grinderman/U.N.K.L.E - Hyper Worm Tamer

Not currently listening to this but will be shortly. It's a full Grinderman live show so is gonna be worth recommending on general principle. If y'all don't know who Grinderman are then - aside from shame on you :p - it's Nick Cave & not all of the Bad Seeds wiv related chums wearing deeply impressive facial fur and leaving aside the more folksy elements of his usual stuff and just going balls-out. Even better than that sounds <3

It is true that the video preview screen, play button and title text are pre-loaded by the browser even though the NSFW link hides them. The question is then, exactly how negligible is the kb of bandwidth they each require to pre-load?

By saving the browser as a .mht file, everytime a youtube video is added it appears to increase by roughly 250kb per link. Which is, admittedly, considerably bigger than I would have thought.

That's basically, the size of this image. NSFW'd ;)

I'm not convinced yet, will look into it more.

People browsing on mobiles generally cant view the NSFW content at all due to forum buggary anyway (the button doesnt open/work in mobile mode, or it didn't used to, unless they've fixed it recently), you had to switch to full site mode to be able to view/load the content under NSFW
 
I have no clue as to the basic FACT!ness of the NSFW'd vidembed shiteness, but I do know that it takes just as irritatatingly long to load a page with NSFW'd vidembeds as it does to load un-NSFW'd vidembeds on my lil pooter. There are perhaps other issues in my own (I suspect) unusual case, but I only notice stupidly slow loading times when there are vidembeds and it makes no difference whether they be NSFW'd or not.

Currently listening to nowt cos stopped listening to tunes to watch tellybox due to early-onset hangover :!
