You seen him play live before Spudgun?

No man - had the chance at Reading one year, but missed it through being too fucked :(. Got there just as some people were fleeing a gang of people with cereal box masks on, to an ear splitting tone wrapping up the set. Would love to. Have you spliff?

Ah thats shit. How long ago was he at Reading? Wouldnt have thought that he would play someone like that. I feel you on the being too fucked and missing someone though haha - such a cunt. Missed a whole days worth of people that i wanted to see due to doing acid for the first time.

And nay sadly. Few people saw him at Bangface a year or 2 ago and said he was amazing. Was pretty much exclusively amen carnage for the whole set. So pissed off to have missed that, sounded right up my street :(

Yeah this was a least a decade ago - and I did feel a right cunt, bearing out the Strokes instead. Reading was never a good scene (wicker man toilet incinerations and Slipknot), but we always ended up going. Bit more discerning these days ;)

Shambles you seem to be on a tune posting mission tonight!

How did you manage to find such a broad selection of tunes before youtube? Was it all down to crate digging? Because a lot of them seem too obscure to have been given any limelight, so it must have taken a shyte load of effort to piece together such a collection.

RZA - Don't Be Afraid

Yeah but there was a logoed blimp this time shambz - i saw it up ahead. Seems a bit grasping, but you can't sniff at a blimp (easily)

And the leaked afx one was not too bad, the one that transpired a few months ago

Wasn't suggesting your memory was ten years postdated :p

Was suggesting this has been round and round the block for the last ten years so will believe it when I hear it. Only so many times a boy can get his hopes up :!

(and saying the info (this time) came from "the darknet" makes you sound like a bellend - please use proper terminology :p)

;)

EDIT: The above was posted under the impression one of Spud's above posts was aimed at me. This has since been proven to be mistaken. However, the "darknet" point can never be made often enough so the post remains ;)

In tangential news...

DMX Krew - Body Rock

DMX Krew - Knight Ryder

Farkin' choooooonz =D<3=D

It always seem to be the first festival people go to for some reason (well, people my age anyway). Have had a wicked time every year ive been, but know other festivals would be MUCH better. Last time i went i saw the Stroke while on 4-aco-dmt & md; had a great time =D I know thats not any constilation to you having missed Aphex Twin haha, but the Strokes are aight. I dont mean to rub it in, but you must have been absolutely suicidal for having missed him! Okay, that maybe did rub it in a bit haha ;) Unintentional, honest guv.

Where's the 'disdainful quoting of the media' smiley when you need it. Probably on the darknet - I hear you can get anything there

Mostly by having truly outstanding taste in music combined with some truly outstanding record shops selling stuff dirt cheap in the early-mid 90s. Was actually dead easy to create a drop-dead gorgeous record collection from scratch at the time. I did so several times over. Smack is a helluva drug :|

Oh, and speaking of Gorgeous...

808 State - Lemon

(fun fact: the one and only time i've ever attempted "mad dj skillz" i mixed 808 state into cypress hill... or t'other way 'round... either way, apparently i did dun nail it cos jaws dropped... never tried since cos i'm not sure i could ever reattain such levels of genius :o)

808 State - Nimbus (live on Granada Tonight '92)

Why ain't local news like that any more?!? :!

<3

Wait, did i reply to a post that wasnt aimed at me? How dreadfully embarrassing :o. Bit outside the box with this one, but how about every cunt uses the quote button ;) I dont mean that to sound as bossy as it came across, i was aiming for more pure intimidation factor. Cos im an intimidating bloke who is afraid to verbally flex his muscles, like all blokes should.

Did you know what your were looking for or was it more luck of the draw if you picked a decent record or not?

I tried to build a collection, but tis too costly these days. Although charity shops are always worth a look for records! Got myself a Barry White vinyl in one; a true gem of a find =D

For the most part I knew exactly what I was picking (ya cheeky cunt ya :p;)<3). Some were lucky finds - mainly due to quality packaging/cover and/or sheer cheapness to be sure, but mostly I bought stuff I knew I wanted or stuff I'd had recommended to me. I almost never paid more than a fiver for a (vinyl) album or three quid for an EP/12" unless they were brand new. (Mint) second hand copies could be easily picked up for a quid or two if you waited a couple months. Prices these days have gone nuts... although I was quite annoted to see my copies of KLF's Chill Out and Space priced at £50 apiece in the window of the record shop the day afte I sold 'em the last time for a bag :!

BIG PUN ft Inspectah Deck & Prodigy - Tres Leches (prod RZA)

(before dan gets too excited, it's not "that" prodigy - still a quality hippity-hoppity tune all the same)

London Posse - Money Mad

"Aaaaaal-RY-eeeeet!"=D

That sounds absolutely glorious to me <3 Bet seeing that vinyl collection slowly buildup was a thing of beauty. Not quite as satisfying scrolling down I-tunes :p.When i was first getting into music it was all CD's and whilst it was nice looking at your CD rack, i bet that pales in comparison to flicking through that lovely pressed wax.

Loving the Hip-hop btw :D<3 Would have loved scratching away with some old school hip-hop vinyls.

U-God - Pleasure or Pain feat. Hell Razah

Alice in Chains - Frogs (unplugged '96)

Jane's Addiction - Jane Says (live @ Hammerstein Ballroom '97)

Oh. Fuck. Yes.

Was the only thing ever in competition for collecting chemical experiences and flesh wounds. Guess which of the two won out :\

Although - in defence of interwebz/digital music - it's much, much easier (not to mention cheaper ;)) to recreate collections and add stuff that even the most dedicated audiophile could ever hope to create back then. It's ephemeral stuff now that no sane person would pay for (due to lack of physicality and quality) so I mostly see it as advertising and marketing + nostalgia for the most part. The day record companies start releasing quality product in quality formats again is the day I'll pay for stuff again. Til then, shitey quality + ease of availabilty will have to do :\

Pee Ess: Yer hippity-hoppity contribution is also pleasing <3

Yeah with the use of Youtube ive gathered a great collection of music. Some days could spend our listening to one particular song and then clicking on one of the related videos (with the least views of course ;)) and just going from there. Thats what i dont understand about how your found the music you like originally. Its the really obscure ones that confuse me; how did you know you liked the song before you got the vinyl? Too obscure for most radio stations and TV, so im guessing pirate radio? Sorry if all of this is arbitrary to you, but i find it most interesting!

Wu-Tang vs Boards Of Canada (full album) Nabbed this one of yo-fyne-self. Couple tracks on there that didnt really fit too well, but the rest of them are wicki-cool :D From the top of my head; the intro is sick, 19 minutes in and the Method Man one where he barks at one point =D
