bookshelves are alright if you go for something like biamped active 5" / 6" type, can be had for 2-300 quid.

just get decent floor stands for them dont literally put them on a bookshelf ;)

Seriously though a decent pair of floor standers attached to a decent amp is superb. I could never go back.

Oh btw Ceres. That Potlatch Terra Firma album is quiet something. I agree with you I don't get Boards Of Canada. I have tried.
 
The quality of buskers in Manchester city centre has fuckin soared today. Some guy belting out classical opera type stuff with no mic on the lower end of the main shopping area.

Whilst at the other end was a young girl, doing a note perfect version of Celine Dione's Titanic "my heart will go on". She was fuckin superb. Strong voice that held every note, long, or high and very very strong. Not like Andrex but fuckin fit too.
