Ok I wiki'd Mafiaso Rap

I think get what it is now, but why is it only an East Coast thing? Could NWA never make mafiaso rap if they're West Coast, even if they had rapped about 'lavish, self-indulgent, and luxurious subject matter, with many references to famous mobsters, organized crime, materialism, drugs, and expensive champagne'?

Did the West Coast end up with the same genre but called something different due to not having affiliation with the East Coast?

East Coast is Mafiaso , WEst is colurs by Ice T

Still on a Saul Williams kick...

First track that grabbed me greatly off The Inevitible Rise & Liberation of Niggy Tardust (also a contender for greatest album title ever =D)...

NIN & Saul Williams - Raw

One of those rare straight up sex songs that is genuinely sexy...

What's a song if you can't fuck to it?
I want to move deep in the gut of it
And what's the right kind of behavior... to qualify as someone's savior?
What kind of question is that anyway?
I know I don't deserve your time of day
But since you're giving me some time tonight
Then hold me close, girl, and just squeeze me tight
Raw...
I want to touch you on the other side... where all your anger, fear, and hurt reside
I want to get to know the part of you that I can crawl inside, the heart of you
Raw...

Brief and to the point <3

When I discovered he did blisteringly good social commentary too I became enough of a fanboy to occasionally postwhore the living shit outta him too :o

Saul Williams - Black Stacey

NSFW:

I used to hump my pillow at night.
The type of silent prayer to help myself prepare for the light.
Me and my cousin Duce would rank the girls between one and ten
And the highest number got to be my pillows pretend.
Now I apologize to every high ranker.
But you taught me how to dream and so I also thank you.
I never had the courage to approach you at school.
We joked around a lot and I know you thought I dressed cool.
But I was just covering up all the insecurities that came bubbling up.
My complexion had
Me stuck in an emotional rut, 'like the time you Flavor Flaved me and you called me
"Yo Chuck, they say
You're too black, man".
I think I'm too black.
Mom, do you think I'm too black? I think I'm too black.
Black Stacey.
They called me Black Stacey.
I never got to be myself 'cause to
Myself I always was Black Stacey, in polka dots
And paisley, a double goose
And bally shoes, you thought it wouldn't phase me.
I was Black Stacey.
The preachers' son from Haiti
Who rhymed a lot and always got the dance steps at the party.
I was Black Stacey.
You thought it wouldn't phase me, but it did 'cause I was just a kid.

I used to use bleaching creme, 'til Madame CJ Walker walked into my dreams.
I dreamt of being white and
Complimented by you, but the only shiny black thing that you liked was my shoes.
Now, I apologize for bottling up
All the little things you said that warped my head and my gut.
Even though I always told you not to
Brag about the fact that your great grand
Mother was raped by her slave master. Yeah, I became
Militant too.
So it was clear on every level I was blacker than you.
I turned you on to Malcolm X and
Assata Shakur in my three quarter elephant goose with the fur.
I had the high top fade
With the steps on the side.
I had the two finger ring, rag top on the ride.
I had the sheep skin, name
Belt, Lee suit, Kangol, acid wash Vasco, chicken and waffle.

Black Stacey.
They called me Black Stacey.
I never got to be myself 'cause to myself I always was Black Stacey, in polka dots
And paisley, a double goose and bally shoes, you thought it wouldn't phase me.
I was Black Stacey. the preachers'
Son from Haiti who
Rhymed a lot and always got the dance steps at the party.
I was Black Stacey.
You thought it wouldn't phase me, but it did 'cause I was just a kid.

Now here's a little
Message for you.
All you baller playa's got
Some insecurities too, that you could cover up, bling it up, cash in
And ching ching it up, hope no
One will bring it up, lock it down and string it up.
Or you can share your essence with us, 'cause everything about you couldn't be rugged
And ruff.
And even though you tote a
Glock and you're hot on the
Streets, if you dare to share your heart, we'll nod our heart to
Its beat.
And you should do that, if nothing else, to prove
That a player like you could keep it honest and true. Don't mean to call your bluff but
Mothafucka that's what I do.
You got platinum chain
Then, son, I'm probably talking to you.
And you can call your gang, your posse and the rest of your crew.
And while you're at it get them addicts and the indigent too. I plan to have a whole army
By the time that I'm through to load their guns with songs they haven't sung.

(different kinda tunes next post - promise)

Blimey, Mz Marmz. Your tune recommendations rarely fail to impress but could seriously do without the last page or so :|

Each to their own though. That last vid almost made up for the tune associated with it. Will go back to clickying your linkies when your ears are working again ;)

In other news, am unfeasibly excited in a nauseatingly fanboy stylee that Atoms For Peace finally have an album out next month instead of just live shows...

Atoms For Peace - Default

The Wedding Present - Come Play With Me

Now that's more like the Marmz we all know and <3

Gonna have to go back on me word and post one more Saul Williams track I forgot to post earlier. Cos it's fukkin amazing...

Blackalicious (feat Saul Williams) - Blazing Arrow

And in vaguely related to me above anticipatory Atoms For Peace tune, am also quite looking forward to the new Foals album I just found out is also released next month. Yes, I am a living cliche sometimes. But only semi-hipster at best. Not even a millimetre on Sammy G's skinny jeans by any means :D

Foals - Inhaler

New hard rock kinda sound is unexpected. Not sure which way I'll fall on this yet as an album but liking this track and mainly posting it cos I like the bit in the vid with two fellas shooting rockets off at each other at close range. Is spookily reminiscent of one of the handful of NYE nights that actually register as a memory. Involved smoking unfeasible amounts of crack (with a smattering of smack to keep the monkey quiet) and rather similar rocket-based tomfoolery with me dealer. Within spitting distance of a petrol station in this case which was perhaps a tad reckless in hindsight :o

Pee Ess: If my reminisences of life as a water fail to impress than the nekkid tattooed boobies in the vid may help :D

^ Not like any BoC tunes I've heard but definitely from somewhere in the depths of the murkier side of the 80s, Alby :D

Apologies for predictability but back on Die Antwoord. Just acquired their discog so listening to properly now as opposed to just random PooToob traxx..

Die Antwoord - Enter the Ninja (DJ Fishsticks Mix)

Like cheese. Of the very tasty extra mature variety <3

Die Antwoord - Wat Kyk Jy

(not the original vid but I can't see that one cos I refuse to sign in to PooToob on principle and it's classed as "adult" :\)

Possibly even more extra mature cheese than the above. And all the better for it <3

But I think I prefer the version I posted last night before I'd heard the studio one - was properly impressed with the mad skillz (as I do believe da yout are prone to say) of performing like that live in such a confined space <3

(will try to have moved on to some other tunes after this cos i suspect my newfound enthusiasm is getting kinda dull for others ;))

Pee Ess: In response to Farmaz, you're not the one who has Bad Thoughts about spending a lil quality time with Yo-Landi ;)

(although i suspect i'd be the one learning what a bad thought actually is =D)

/wank fantasy

Haha I too acquired their entire discog as YouTube was pissing me off, I agree a lot of their stuff is fucking cheese!
I also hang my head with regards to your 'ps' lol =D

BCF: When I say "cheese" I mean it as the highest recommendation. Much as I loathe using such a term... it's "post-modern" cheese and therefore like the finest quality cheese that would usually cost a fortune from some poncy cheesemongers. Extended metaphores aside, it's pure class <3

Plus, the mutual wank fantasy that is the divine Yo-Landi moons the camera barebutt stylee in that second live track so gets massive bonus points for that alone =D

Brimz: BRA? Am liking your recent tunes selections - not that I don't appreciate your signature hippity-hoppity stuff - since the lil emdee injection earlier. The sudden change in pace has not gone unnoticed =D<3=D

Currently listening to...

Plan B (feat John Cooper Clarke) - Pity the Plight

In related news, am now kinda irritated I can't/won't sign in to PooToob cos that means I can't see the live version of the above. Would <3 to see 'em performing together but am apparently not allowed to unless I pledge allegience to the almighty god of google :|

But for those that can/will: Plan B/JCC - Pity the Plight (live) - do please tell me it was shite so I can avoid the annoyance of being shut out :\

To make up for it, someone has managed to post the full Paint it Blacker mixtape and not had it pulled down for copywrong reasons yet (half the individual tracks get kicked off sharpish due to record companies annoyance at being sampled sans permission (didn't they stop doing that shit 20 years ago 8)) so am glad to see it all up there for now at least)

Plan B - Paint It Blacker (full album)

His second best work to date (Time 4 Plan B being his best). Although the last coupla albums are growing on me...

Haha to be honest there are a few tracks that border along actual cheese but the majority of their stuff is excellent in a bizarre way :)

I also think I know what vid yer on bout lol =D

Have you seen Plan B's film 'Ill Manors'?(featuring the jcc track, with a cameo from him performing it in a pub) It was watchable, I give him credit though as he did wrote, directed and did the entire soundtrack for it, fair fuckin play, talented fucker isn't he
