What are you listening to? Part XXX - Sexxxy tunes for sexxxy folks

I love this stripped down cover version of that track, but the layers gradually pile on.



This duo are amazing musicians, and Carson has picked some great songs to cover, and he invariably does a great job.

His version of Bob Dylan's Simple Twist of Fate is also brilliant imho

Ghost Riders is amazing, I love that track so much & this cover is really good.

On Sunday on Sky Arts (Freeview Channel 11) they had The Highway Men in Concert (The Highwaymen were a country music supergroup comprising legends Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson, formed in 1985. Renowned as the premier "outlaw country" band, they recorded three major albums, including their hit debut Highwayman, and toured until the mid-1990s.)

I liked the version you posted too. Johnny Cash is a legend of course, and what cool, effortless, brilliant vocals he performed on that video.

I first heard The Shadows version whenever that came out at some point in the 1970s when I'd have been less than 10 years old, and it seems to be one of those tracks that many musicians want to take a shot at.

Got to say that the Carson McGee (and his mate) is my personal favourite version so far.

Just the immaculateness of the timing of everything is so good, and all the other subtle and cool things they do, make it a great version imho.

And they are just some random guys on youtube, I don't even know if they are professional musicians.

What I'd give to be able to play like that. (Apart from the many years and thousands of hours of dedication to practice that it actually takes. I just don't have enough 'left in my tank' after work to be able to practice regularly, which is frustrating as hell.)
