learnt something there, hadn't realised it was a cover, but allot of Weller's work is largely based on plagiarism, he makes no secret of it it is the way he writes his stuff.

I know the other one "The bottle" is also a cover:-

Gil Scott Heron "The Bottle"

In fairness Weller almost always makes a good job of his covers

if you listen to :-

THE BEATLES Taxman

and

The Jam - Start

Gives a good example of how he works....you tell I'm a big fan...=D

Marmalade: Good call on Spiritualized / Spacemen 3. Did you hear the version of 'Ladies...' with the gospel choir singing 'Can't help falling in love' on the recent reissue? Spine tingling.
Downloaded selected tracks from it last night

Christ. I'm more than a little miffed you didn't warn me about the Broken Heart Demo. Holy Jebus. His voice is all broken up n stuff. arghg!
He's always been a master of the 'Little Boy Lost' routine, but this demo really is heart rendering to ridiculous levels. Gut-wrenching awesomeness.
Play have it on sale for £26. gonna order it next friday hopefully.

[edit]
cant stop listening to Doug Martch singing Pale Blue Eyes ... gawd he does it a huge justice.

I'm commemorating REM's split by watching their DVDs, they were together my whole life and now they're not... I'd actually not listened to them much over the last few years but they were my teenage band so there's a lot of nostalgia there that I thought would work with mdma.

Before that I was getting into Bowie, just can't get into anything new these days band/artist wise in the rock/alternative scene. Gave up whatever indie is now ages ago.
