Early Therapy? were great. Sort of industrial / alt-rock / techno crossover which was impossible to categorise.

It's a shame they went more commercial, but I liked Troublegum and even Infernal Love at the time and still have a soft spot for those albums.

You're a similar age to me, Slaughter (though a wee bit older) so were you lucky enough to see them with Fyfe Ewing on drums? I did. At times it was hard to believe it was a human being and not programmed rhythms - in a good way, if you know what I mean. His syncopation was unbelievable. One of the best drummers I've ever seen.

I agree. They were a much underated band imo. The early albums Babyteeth and Pleasure Death, which I think were compiled into Caucasian Psychosis are some of my all time favorites. It was a unique sound like you said, which they lost somewhere along the way
And yes Fyffe Ewing was a once off and losing him was probably their undoing, wouldnt be the first time a drummer has made a band !

'Dislike' is not a strong enough word for Blur as far as I'm concerned, but hey - I was a Suede kid. It figures. :)

Why on earth did Justine dump Brett for that ? Council-house fop beats overblown rich kid any day, though that statement may be somewhat biased.

Anyway before Sony get to it, here's one of my teenage hero's best songs. Okay, so it's about love and romance and all that vomit-inducing shit, but that chorus, those bells, that flat-but-somehow expressive voice! <3

I thought Pulp wre the best of that Genre n i was lucky enuff to see them at Glastonbury in 95 it was epic and is still refered to 2day as one of the best live "Britpop i hate that term :! " sets . Saw The Scream n Neil Young that year amongst countless others PJ harvey loads the lightning seeds were actually ok live.
I even remeber The Mock Turtles that was my first ever proper gig in 1989 i think .
 
'Britpop' was indeed a shit term. You've seen some good gigs there, Brimz. NY was one of my best gigs, and even at the age he was then it was the loudest guitar sound I've ever heard.

I saw the Scream with Kevin Shields on extra guitar. We were in the gods, blatantly smoking gear. Good times. :)

This song used to upset me too much (and Neil Young in general for a bit) because of past associations, but what can I say - it's been four years, she was a bitch and she looks like shit now. So here we go:

this was part of my early hardcore education. i.e. the formation of the person i am today. i really want a uk punk antidote to this song. we've had 'what happened to the scene, we lost it on the pages of the nme?' now we need 'our scene is fucking mint yo.'

its also the first time i noticed that the phrase 'i'm not being righteous' is always followed by smoething self righteous. i agree with his sentiments.....

I love the Beastie Boys early stuff. They could rap but they also had the ability to create non lyrical melodies that were wonderful

Vaguely, just youtubed it.. not a fan really.

I only like the pure weirdness and gorgeousness of 13 really, was never a britpop girl at all.. had a lot of mates who were tho and respected their choices :)

Y'know what tho? I do love this. Too many fond friend-memories not to :D
