Going against the grain of the thread here, but for several reasons I now only drink very rarely. A nice whisky with loads of ice still hits the spot and the buzz is lush, but I only rarely indulge in that now.
For a few years I went through a phase of having large glasses of a half decent (£6-£8 range) Pinot Grigio with my evening meal, and it really did enhance and compliment the taste of the food by a huge margin. It seemed to go with everything. What a versatile wine! But I'd usually drink at least half the bottle, but often 2/3rds of it, and sometimes all of it.
And then I'd usually follow up with Whisky Sours after dinner.
But then a huge weight gain, the huge cost, and falling asleep infront of the TV in not a very nice way. Waking up grumpy and irritable rather than deliciously noddy. And then the hangovers of course.
And then when I got diagnosed with ADHD it was strongly advised not to mix the ADHD meds with alcohol.
But alcohol does go fantastic with phenibut and methylphenidate, the experience is very similar to GBL, in terms of musical enhancement, and overall subjective feelings of disinhibition etc, but maybe just a notch or 2 lower on the scale of euphoria.
I've now pretty much stopped buying alcohol, so that I can afford to pay for my adhd meds instead, which is a much better and far more sensible option for my circumstances and brain chemistry, and a no brainer really.
And I find the evenings far more pleasant, sometimes even delicious, just nodding in and out, with a combo of Mirtazapine, benzos, and weed. I find it a far nicer option.
I just don't really seem to be wired for alcohol, although a swiftly downed double whisky really gets a nice heavy relaxing and happy heady buzz on. Especially if kept as just as a rare indulgence. It wouldnt work for me if I did it every night.
