What Are You Drinking? V2. Frosty Jacks - For The Discerning Pisshead

But doesn't the absinthe re-introduced to the UK, lack the critical ingredient of Wormwood, the ingredient that gave the drink it's special properties?

Weirdly you can perfectly legally buy wormwood from fancy herbalists, so it's not illegal, but I think it's banned or at least removed from the absinthe you can buy in the UK.

I guess if you knew what you were doing you could create your own proper wormwood absinthe.

Poppy Brite writes a lot about Wormwood in her horror books set in New Orleans. I'll have to revisit these books as I remember enjoying them.

Afaik wormwood is not banned from absinthe. Again, afaik, it only really turns up in the higher end versions. I spent £70 on the bottle in the late 90s… :|

I’m pretty sure it had wormwood in though, and I’ve had actual wormwood in my herbal stash for decades. I don’t rate it personally. Mild buzzy feeling no more - arguably less - significant than the buzz from 70-odd % alcohol anyway 😃

My only OG Spanish Absentha, had the good Thuyone or whatever,
and it s not only the Wormwood. Maybe the combo of Herb s ?
Responsable for the weird effect s a Alcohol used person wouldn t even notice.

But are ime nearer to THC then Ethanol. The bottle was less then a tenner in Spain.
But as real Absinth only is found on the Ocean floor and hidden castle cellar s.
You pay a price disproportional to the effect, so don t.

The commercial brands i tried like Pernod are worth shit.

Well I woke up this morning and grabbed my self a beer ,cos it was the only cold thing in the fridge and I had a thirst like the devil .that's my day ruined. Its a Turkish draught beer in a bottle ? Called fici made by tuborg ,its going down a treat the wife's not up yet and there 2 more left 😀
Tuborg [cheap Beer apperent over here] is called TUMOR [for a reason] !

Oh gawd. I almost didn't see that. ... Like an elephant in a room.

TRUTH

Of course ... I might be a little biased.

Puff pass. 😁🐘

I guess weed will be the next target. Then hopefully acid and more opium dens.

I'm just kidding. Weekends almost over. 🙁

Now I have to get high all week, again. 😉

Cheerio 🧃

Possibly THE most insidious drug of them all, and it's in every fucking corner shop. Really can fuck you over.

Gawd I wish I could get drunk. It sounds like so much fun. I really get to miss out on a lot. 🍻

Be very glad. Booze is the worst. Makes you feel cock of the walk for a night followed by a day of relentless anxiety, regret and feeling like absolute shite.

I’d honestly take pretty much any drug over alcohol… but it’s just so socially acceptable and legal so… :|

Having said that I am currently drinking Rooster Brewing Co. Baby Faced Assassin IPA. Only stubbies but 6.1% and just £5.24 even with Scottish Minimum Pricing. Not bad!

Scottish Minimum Pricing. Explain.

Overpriced NL booze, that is my standard, a governement promoting that.
Minimum Pricing. Well it makes migration, for some. Considering, a option.

Scottish Minimum Pricing. Explain.

In Scotland there is a Minimum Price per unit of alcohol - currently 65p. This means that for an average 2 unit strength drink there is effectively an extra tax of £1.30 before taking anything else - including standard UK taxes - into account.

In short, booze be pricey!!! :!

Having said that, I mostly just buy whatever’s on offer. Currently Brewdog Punk IPA. Least punk company I can think of… but beer be tasty and price be relatively reasonable so… :\

What, at least offer s are allowed. They where 49.99 % here,
but the last several year s they max-ed 25 %
Bacardi again
Cachaça please, cheaper then Brand-tardi. But the quality.

i d pay more for it.

There’s no limit on offers - the price simply cannot go below the Minimum Unit Price.

Obviously no company is gonna sell products at below cost though so in practice you rarely see offers of more than around 25% discount.
