Weirdly you can perfectly legally buy wormwood from fancy herbalists, so it's not illegal, but I think it's banned or at least removed from the absinthe you can buy in the UK.

I guess if you knew what you were doing you could create your own proper wormwood absinthe.

Poppy Brite writes a lot about Wormwood in her horror books set in New Orleans. I'll have to revisit these books as I remember enjoying them.

I don't think the 'psychedelic' properties of wormwood (or more accurately the thujone contained in the wormwood) were ever anything more than a myth.

Not prepared to drink that much absinthe.

OT: Punk IPA Brewdog... disappointing after Belgian beers.

That's the thing; the restrictions on thujone in modern absinthes are due to thujone's toxicity rather than any nonexistent psychedelic effects.

But that became a myth about The Man suppressing the 'real' absinthe with higher thujone levels. Even absinthe with a thujone content way above the recommended levels won't make you trip. It'll get you very pissed in short order though.

Absinthe is basically Pernod, no?
 
More or less correct. Pernod was a very early absinthe distillery (claims to be the first; make of that what you will), and when the French banned absinthe (1915), they just switched the ingredients about and sold what we now know as 'Pernod'.

In recent years they've relaunched their absinthe too, which is supposedly the same recipe as the original. We're yet to see an outbreak of hallucinations and insanity. Same goes for countries like Spain and Portugal, which never banned it. An enduring and alluring urban myth.

Second bottle of Irish cream as earlier got me asleep for couple of hours, but now wanting another sleep, also drinking as keep thinking about crack but being strong and not doing it
 
Finished Irish cream and have got four cans of John Smith's tadcaater bitter and lemonade as going to have tops-shandys rest of night

I do like me a bit of Irish cream I must admit, but it's for sippin', not for suppin'.

I once necked a litre of Baileys in an attempt to get pissed and my guts hated me for the rest of the night.

Didn't even get pissed... :\
 
I can't stomach super strengths or fortified or buckfast or any other spirtits was on rum until couple of days ago but was mashed on it
 
Had 2 x 70cl Irish cream and 3 cans of beer, getting a lot of psychological effects from stopping crack/cocaine and feel the need to medicate on booze but it is a scary thought/desire!? Anybody else can mention a few words about stopping crack and what to do?!
