I am drinking OJ, no beer for three and half weeks, I had things to do, a bit of weight to lose and bills to pay and it is periods like these that make me appreciate the futility of life or rather the futility of life without alcohol.

Knockshakes. Strawberry 'n' 'nana one to be precise. One of the few non druggy ways to kill a hangover (mostly) before it starts to bite hard.

Discovered the joys of red lemonade in Ireland t'other week. It's lemonade but it's red. The redness make far more difference than one might expect. It really, really does. It spoiled me for all other lemonades ever I suspect.

When I stopped drinking a counsellor told me to drink sugared fizzy drinks, she said my body would crave sugar as I'd been drinking a bottle of scotch a day for nearly 2 years solid. I'm not sure how true that is but I've continued to have fizzy drinks but switched to sugar free, non branded stuff is cheap.

I get a few odd reactions to not drinking, mainly at work. The xmas do was so awkward sitting with my new boss that in the new year I had a word and explained that I'd stopped as I suffer with depression and was drinking too much, I think he appreciated the honesty. Socially is the only time a miss it TBH, these days I don't go out on weekend drug addled party missions so a social drink would be nice but going back to where I got to with it isnt something I want to contemplate.

I very rarely drink fizzy drinks. Only as mixers really. I drink enough empty calories as it is

sugar free is the way to go, no calories but a host of as yet undefined side effects :D
