I've been off booze for a coupla weeks ... Just had 1 bottle of wine and 2 pints of Guinness when I ventured out recently. Feels good.

Saw that these were being sold off in ASDA today for a quid each and I love the taste so bought 5

I really want to try heating up that new coffee flavoured Baileys I think it could be an excellent breakfast accompaniment.:)

Been to pubs drinking Bombay Sapphire Gin with Juice all night, being ridiculed and called a girl for it each time.

Went particularly well Bitter Lemon juice though. Mmmmm....

so I've just started drinking lagers. Used to only drink spirits. Why is it I get a different drunk? Do you think it's just the build up to the finale, ie. Going out? or do you think different alcoholic beverages make you feel differently?
I could never just chill over a vodka coke like I do a cool beer, and I couldn't go out intoxicated on lagers. However, alcohol is alcohol and it's not like there's extra special ingredients involved. I suppose you're likely to drink spirits and stuff faster and so get drunk faster, like a rushing come on and beers slower so you relax into it but still

Why do I just feel different on different stuff?

oh, gin & Bitter lemon is one of the classier ways forward

There are in fact different ingredients; remember that modern beer, for example is brewed with hops, which have a natural sedative effect. Super strength lagers contain fusel alcohols, which will have a more-than-subjective impact on your experience. It's something which most of the dry scientific studies on alcohol and its effects have failed to even scratch the surface of.

Having said that, there's also a lot in what you say about people generally drinking spirits faster and thus becoming intoxicated quicker. In all likelihood it's a combination of many, many factors.

Iced Mint Tea - This cannot last as I could murder a drink, going to try and hold out another 5 days and then thats my NY goal reached.

Never come across Chinese beer before but is not bad. Quite tasty in fact. Made with rice as well as hops 'n' malt although it doesn't taste like rice pudding disappointingly :(

EDIT: NSFW'd for size. Blimey was that pic bigger than I was expecting 8o

Is quite nice that, local Chinese restaurant I'm quite fond of does it. I'd love some beer now actually but bought Strongbow cos although Fosters was a quid less for ten, it's Fosters. I could have done a two mile round trip to Lidl to get 12 cans of their own brand cider for about £7 but the only clean pair of trousers I have at the moment (no washing machine yet) is a good two inches two big around the waist and I have no belt so you know...

edit: Also approve of milkshakes. For ages I was drinking Frij or whatever but Mum brought me over a banana flavoured Yazoo the other day and oh man it was so good. Not too thick, which I approve of, gentlemen take note.

Hey, do you Southern lot have Milkshacks too or is it just a Northern thing? I've only seen em in Hull and York, but they have so many different flavours, basically mix and match. My mate had one with Daim bar blended in, holy shit they should bottle and sell that stuff in supermarkets.
