I've just bought something in Lidl for the first time in my life. Westons Stowford Press, as advertised earlier in the thread by MailMonkey I believe.

99p a bottle. 6%. That's just ridiculous.

Its not bad, and, at Lidl prices, it's fucking good. I'm drinking Westons, at the Co-Op price, 2 for 3 quid...

Hasn't been off offer for a few months now. %)

What else did you buy in Lidl?

have yours installed a backery section yet , mm?

fresh baked goods every morning!

they have these cheese topped diamond shaped bread rolls, 4 for a £1. Best ever. Proper cheese on top too, loads of it & not stingy, and decent heavyish bread, not shitey air-filled crap bread like normal supermarket own brand ones either.

The famous brand "Valley Spire" extra mature cheddar. Which is also surprisingly good. I also bought a cake that wasn't so nice.

This was about my sixth or seventh ever visit to Lidl and the first time I've found something to buy. Nearly fell for the Captain Pirate Rum or some such made up label at 9.99 but I think I'll go back for that.

Shut it Emin.

Captain James Cook Imported (from Dusseldorf) Rum.

Fucking vile, but fine as a mixer. Watsons rates the stuff highly.

You're not looking hard enough SHM, there's always good stuff to buy at Lidl. Did you go down the middle aisle? You know the weird one that sometimes sells telescopes, sometimes motorbike panniers, sometimes anchors.

Yes, I'm always impressed with their scatter gun layout. Are you telling me they repeat this over the country? Bananas next to puncture repair kits kinda thing?

And yeah, that was the rum. What do you use rum as a mixer with?

Yep, that shop layout is so popular it seems to be the same everywhere.

They sell something till it's sold out, then just think up something else to import in bulk, distribute it to all their stores, sell it till it's gone, rinse, repeat.

So when they run out of bananas, they'll decide to stock lifejackets, and they will go where the 'nanas were. =D

It's ace.

brilliant frozen raw tiger prawns at the moment. Not seen any snails for a while. Or lobsters. But the lobsters will be soon.

James Cook "Rum" (ingredients water, ethanol, caramel, flavoiuring) and Dr Pepper. Irie %)

I tried their valley spire 15 month matured cheddar and was blown away. The one in the black packet. I think thats one one you mean right?
By far the nicest sharpest , almost mouth stingingly mature chedder I have had.

Much nice than the waitrose or sainsbury alternatives. Will deffo be going back to buy more of it.
Their stilton is also very nice, but I prefer st agur cheese. But thats so moreish you can end up eating wayyy too much.

Would love to transition from vegetarian to vegan but cheese is too bloody nice !!!

The Rooibos tea in lidl is also great, much nicer that the garbage that tetleys and tick tock and dragonfly serve up as rooibos.

Currently drinking a bottle of Sam Adams :)
