As the above guide says a belgian strong ale should be around 12-14c. You state yours was "nice and cold" so highly doubt the minimum wage waitress that was serving it to you was any expert or professional of any kind marmz

I bought a bottle of duvel today just pour vous. bottle states beer should be consumed at 6c.

I implore you to write to Duvel with a strongly worded letter informing them of their error.

They always do that, stella cans say to serve at 3c !! WTF is up with that, no lager should be less than 6 c to start with.
Leffe bottles also say 5c which is a joke.
Notice that Stella and Leffe are all brewed by the mighty Inbrev, a company so stupid that they now have to inform people to drink their beers colder than they ideally should to hide all the nasty adjunct taste
The ceo of duvel is a former exec at Inbev as well, so no surprises there

In Germany they even go as far as to say no beer whatsoever should be colder than 9c
