Load time sucks arse, looks great but if I want something to look at i'd go to sodofreaks.com. This is an information board and the access of information is so congested due to the bullshit graphics that those trying to acess it will simply give up myself included. Lets get back to basics and stop trying to impress the world with this micky mouse bullshit.

Like the colour and all, just the loading time took a while and some icons are not working but so far looks ok.
 
those of you who are bitching about avatars taking too long to load up in your display, there is an option within "myBL > edit options" to switch off display of OTHER USERS' avatars. signature displays can also be turned off.

there are a lot more user friendly options with the new forum software, such as subscribing to a thread and being notified for new replies.

a lot of options have been available with other forums i use for a while, and its good to see bluelight moving with the times.

im quite enjoying the new software cept for the load times, which im sure will be tweaked later.

I'm on 56k now, and everything does load rather slow, but i'm getting cable installed soon, which is another problem i guess, cause I'm hooking up with Telstra Bigpond, and will have a tiny 1GB limit, so will bluelight chew my already, small download limit?

Hopefully not, but we'll see...

I also lost my username :( but that doesn't bother me.

Nice work, whoever reads this, and was involved with the change!

load times.....suck real bad, and I'm on cable

Oh well, loading times will improve hopefully, and I'll get used to the layout
 
ok i hope this isnt an obvious question but how do i put an avator up? i want mine on here! 8)

i went to 'mybl' and went to the avator section but it says to choose from a list but the list is non exsistant and also it says u have 2 have over 1000 posts to have ur own...so whats going on with that?

anyone?
 
If you have more than 1000 posts, you may also specify your own custom avatar.

that means u can upload ur own custom avatar instead of choosing from the list.

from what i can tell, avatars are not available by default (there is no list to choose from), however, if u have had more than 1k posts on bluelight, u can upload ur own.

im not sure if this will be a permernant regulation for having avatars, give the admins some time to work out the details of the new software.

ahhh so avatars are all 1337 and stuff now....

i spose that wont chug up the server too much...also i'm on a uni connection at the moment and not having the load time problems i was having on dial up a few hours ago....

nezo: you know my avatar r0x0rz...i challenge anyone else to create an animated gif under 8k...cos its fuckin hard!

also considering the general slick aesthetic going on...is it possible to update our smiley's to be a touch less 90's???

Private messages are now available.

Ignore functions are now availiable for people you dont like.

Mega search capabilities now exist, and all forums automatically search the relevant archives too, which is great for the drug forums.

Buddy lists now exist.

Whos online now exists.

Loading times will increase. The new server comes in later in the week. And we are doing a lot of tweaking to it, which has resulted in huge improvements already.

Avatars - Plaz, if you don't like them, bad luck. You had your chance to bitch about it in the A&F forum when it was decided there. The limitations on it shouldnt affect load times much anyway.

...and more... :)

ermmm..one other thing, where are the sticky threads??? in particular 'Super Important'

is it possible to have sticky's not in the main forum topic summary area as well??
 
heh... we're getting to them (we lost all forum headers in the change), same as we lost all custom user titles. all will be fixed, but it takes a lil while.

We know it takes a long time to load but we are working on it. Please be patient while we work through the teething problems.
 
I love the NEW new BL :D

It's smoother, sleeker, sexier and more time-consuming, if you ask me. Can't be too comfortable for dial-up atm though, just hang on and wait for the new server!

Maybe the jaded crew will return cos it's just too pretty?

Ah well, there are some minor things that need fixing, but i'm sure things are going as fast as they can for now :)

Firstly, a big bigups to those involved in the change, it's cool.

The new features are awesome, especially the ability to view all posts by a user and private messaging.

Issues/Comments:

  • Designwise, the posts in a thread look a bit disjointed.. perhaps it's the effect of the amount of space between each message
  • On the 'Reply to Topic' page, the link at the bottom of the page to review the whole thread should be 'This thread has more than 25 replies. Click here to review the whole thread.' rather than just the word 'here' being the link. It's not immediately obvious that the link is a link because it's not underlined.
  • Is the ability to send emails to a user through their profile going to remain permanantly turned off? It was when I tried to do it, I know you can use private messaging but an email form for a user is pretty handy.
  • Avatars @ 1000 posts. This has the potential to incite people to spam away.

Otherwise it looks and runs great. :) Good work!
 
the upgrade to teh new version of v.bulletin was way worth it

but the colour and overal chunkyness of the new design i dont like, plus the individual tabs for each reply is way annoying

Loveing the new features, hating the new design :D

i think the old bl, but with new v.bulletin would have been nice
or just a much more streamline, minimilistic design, after all these are forums, and dont need to be this graphicly intense
