Weed gives me anxiety, but what about weed mixed with ativan?

I'm fond of longer lasting benzos (flurazepam, diazepam) but I can't stand clonazepam for some reason; I get paradoxical reactions out of it. :\

Weird it's the only benzo that's been able to effectively control my GAD actually, been on 1mg 2x daily for over a year and love it (I take 30mg temazepam at night for sleep occasionally, usually only if I haven't smoked a little bedtime joint/hash bots). Dizeapam was decent but why doctor switched me to clonazepam because she "didn't want me to become a Valium addict" 8) lol some doctors operate so ass backwards it's funny. All in all she's a decent doctor though, is compassionate and understanding when it comes to my pain/pain management which alot of doctor's now a days definitely aren't.

a small dose, dependent on your tolerancee, should help eliminate littering and, littering and, littering and...smokin the reefer.

no, it should help eliminate any anxiety. as has been mentioned, an anxiolytic (diazepam, clonazepam, etc) would be more suitable than a hypnotic (temazepam) because they're less likely to knock you out and are designed for anxiety.

i'll move this over to CD. mods, if it's not suitable over there than maybe send it to BDD

hey beta, i think this is the first thread i've moved over to you guys.

wyatt earp beat me to it;)

^ Sorry buddy. Already moved to BDD. I don't think CD would want it anyways. It's much more suited for BDD.

to offset anxiety from marijuana I usually just take a puff or two and thats good enough, unless I'm drinking with it which is usually, then I never feel anxious just like I want more and more weed lol. that is actually my favorite combo, beer and a blunt, smoke like half the blunt drink a beer, smoke the other half drink another beer and so on.... but when I don't have beer, I just smoke a little bit, I find that when your doing stuff and not actually thinking about the high, the anxiety is pretty low. and it's also strain dependant

Shorter acting benzodiazepines like Ativan (or Valium, Xanax, etc.) are great in combination with marijuana, regardless if you suffer anxiety or don't. It will calm you down and provide a better high. Don't take Ativan every time that you smoke though, benzodiazepines can produce hardcore withdrawal symptoms.

Valium is one of the longest acting benzo's.

Anyhow, this sounds like a horrible idea to me. I am not sure if anyone pointed it out yet but you will be developing one of the most horrible addictions possible (benzos) just so you can smoke weed. Why not just do smack or oxys or some other opiate? At least then you only have to find and buy one drug instead of two, and if you do decide to quit opiate w/d isn't as bad as benzos.

That is why I can't smoke weed anymore. The shit makes me nuts. However if you want to be an occasional user and use benzos for anxiety it does work but you can also end up with a habit pretty quick.

I have been using benzos for years, and I have no problem only using them on occasion and have never craved them or developed any addiction towards them. Maybe thats because I only use 1 or 2mg ever, and only to kill anxiety and not trying to take stupid high doses just to get a buzz.

Yeah, if you only use anything on occasion you'll likely be fine. And I suppose if this guy is only smoking pot once a week or so popping a xanax won't matter. But you take 1mg once a day, every day for a couple of months, then stop. See what happens.

I did notice that when I was on prednisone and needed them every day, I noticed an increase in anxiety and panic attacks after I discontinued them.

However, being the herbal alchemist that I am, I managed to ween myself off by using Ashwaghanda.

I think its possible to use benzos safely, as long as you are only using a low dose to kill anxiety and not taking high amounts to get a buzz from. 1mg of benzos can help an opiate high or kill a panic attack, but taking 7mg to get high is how you develop a bad addition with horrible panic attacks if you try to WD.

Using benzodiazepines daily, mostly when prescribed by a doctor, is very easy to become physically dependent within just months and you never really realize until you go a few days without them. After years on them, when your dose has become really high, you'll notice withdrawal symptoms by just cutting your dose in half. I've been on them for a decade and take my dose just to get by and tapering by just 0.5mg causes nasty withdrawals (Klonopin).

Its daily use when they become a problem and like what others have said, messing around with well higher than maximum daily doses. Benzodiazepines don't have much recreational value so usually someone who isn't prescribed daily won't have much of a problem becoming addicted. If you are taking them once or twice a week at low doses to combat anxiety from smoking pot, you should be fine.

I have mentioned it before and I will say it again: Benzo's should be treated like your average household painkiller (tylenol or whatnot). Taken on an as needed basis. If you find you are needing them every day, then you go to your doctor to find a long term solution to the underlying problem.

I can understand people getting hooked on benzos from years ago, but in the age of SSRIs and SNRIs which are designed to be taken long term, I don't think daily use of benzos is a very good idea for anyone, even those who have legitimate medical causes.

For example I suffer from anxiety. I always have valium handy, but I only use it occasionally (once a week to once a month) when I really need it. I use other methods of coping day to day. I tried effexor, it sucked. I quit cold turkey, it sucked. So I decided to hit the gym and change my eating habits, which helped me in the past. When I see a psychiatrist in a couple of months I will decide then what the best course of action is. Anti-depressant w/d are no joke either, but at least they are designed for long term use.

I am sure some people need benzo's, as nothing else will work for them. But those people are probably a very small minority. For the vast majority of people, stay the hell away from daily benzo use if you can. (or for that matter daily use of any drug. I just flushed 500mg of IR Oxy down the toilet because I kept getting cravings to take them for the high. Having experienced withdrawal from effexor, I never, ever want to be addicted to another drug again. I don't haver personal experience, but there are enough hardcore drug addicts on this site who say benzos are the worst W/D ever that I will take their word. When someone says heroin W/D is a walk in the park compared to benzos, that's enough for me.

I am personally not keen on taking SSRIs myself though. I use a lot of herbal supplements and SSRIs can cause serotonin syndrome when combined with the wrong thing, and most doctors dont know jack about the herbal interactions.

I always take a little benzo while/after smoking weed. Makes me feel SO much better. Typically a small dose like .5clonazepam or lorazepam. The former is preferable because for me it's less sedating.

"I just flushed 500mg of IR Oxy down the toilet because I kept getting cravings to take them for the high. Having experienced withdrawal from effexor, I never, ever want to be addicted to another drug again."
Good for you bro, but in my opinion you're either lying or that was just a bad idea. You would never catch me flushing oxy down the toilet regardless if I took them or not. And, furthermore, your statement about treating benzos as a household drug like tylenol for as needed basis consumption is just a stupid statment, no offense, but alot of people, including me, need to take their benzo EVERYDAY in order to maintain a normal lifestyle. Without a daily benzo(I take Klonopin) I would be a panic stricken wreck. Last, I'm getting kind of tired of hearing about the same old people talking bad about drug use and always offering their own solution of eating right or "hitting the gym". Leave us, the people that need are meds and even the ones who abuse them alone.

I forgot to mention after my little rant, sorry about the rant but it's how I truly feel. Anyway, weed goes excellent with benzos. As I type, I'm currently on 2mg of xanax with just having smoked a bowl and I feel pretty damn good.
