Weed Craving Gone After Dropping Acid

Here is some background. I smoke pot... a lot. I basically had to smoke all day because I craved it so much. If I went for a few hours without taking a rip from the bong, I would get seriously distracted, just thinking about smoking more. It really interfered with my school work (doing homework is hard for me while blazed... and I was always blazed).

So here is the story. Several weeks ago I dropped acid for the first time, and it was amazing. I can't believe how much of an experience it was. After it though, I found that I didn't crave weed. At all. My craving was completely gone. I still smoke, because I still enjoy it, but I have absolutely no subconscious desire to toke up. I only smoke when I decide that I want to. I thought that it might have just been temporary, cause the LSD was still in my system. However, it has been several weeks and I still have no craving. Even though I keep smoking, it is as though my addiction is completely gone.

The reason I am posting this here is because I want to know if there is any scientific basis in LSD negating an addiction to marijuana.

Thank you,
Spix

I have heard no reports of that before - however, many people feel that after having taken a psychedelic, cannabis feels subjectively different (forever, or for a very long period of time - not just immediately after taking it)

And there are an assortment of reports of strong psychedelic experiences helping people to quit other drugs. So this isn't out in left field or anything.

The same exact thing happened to me. I took 5 hits of acid a couple weeks ago (first time ever dropping acid) and I tripped hard for at least 12 hours and since then i havent felt the need to smoke nearly as much as before. Before i dropped acid i NEEDED to smoke at least once a day or else I couldnt eat or sleep at all. I havent smoked for 3 days now and i dont have even the slightest craving, however I still enjoy being high as much as I did before. I think I subconciously scared myself away from drugs, that shit was fuckin intense

Hasn't happened to me. And smoking weed often IS something I would like to stop. I think with heroin/alcohol addicts the guilt may be worse.

I used to say around when I first started psychedelics that my weed highs changed. Now I think back and can't say for sure.

i often do feel refreshed and or reset after lsd, cleans out the clutter. ride the wave

LSD is a known 'tool' for dealing with addictions - it was found to be very useful in clinical settings for aiding alcoholics and heroin addicts in seeing the hartm of their ways. Doesn't suprise me it can reduce addictive behaviour related to other drugs.

I often times had a hard time quitting herb but over the last year I have had 3 experiences where I didn't get to relax much for months at a time then got out experienced a good night either festivals or good concerts. I either took 2ci, methylone or large amounts of oral not insnufflated 4-mec and quit smoking herb for 2-9 wks afterwards and for some reason the quitting is so much easier then when I have just quit out of the blue. I feel like for the next day or two after tripping or rolling I usually just want proper diet sleep and showers and I think the 24-48hrs involved in this helps ease the quit.

Acid for me = pure clean blissful life for the next two weeks without explanation other than perspective on life booster from acid.
I could easily just do acid twice a month for the rest of my life and everything go really well.. (well, not twice a month, but you get the idea.)
To me, nothing compares to acid. Maybe DMT is more 'spiritual' but acid completely enhances the reality of which we know of.

This happend to me but it was after a heavy amt trip, I smoked cannabis from the age of 12 (now 22) i used it everyday for about 7 years as you can guess i craved it all the time. Since that amt trip 5 months ago i only smoke on weekends now, And it makes a hell of a difference i didnt realise how much it was slowing me down, i have so more more energy now and i never make silly little mistakes at work like i use to when constantly being stoned out my head. Weirdly never had this effect after Lsd, i think its just a psychedelic thing it makes you 'grow up' abit, for a lack of a better word

Well it's not really a bad thing that you don't. It's kind of a waste, IMO you don't get much out of smoking weed when you're on acid. Okay it's very nice for the taste but if you're talking effects you might aswell be smoking a cigarette, ime. Plus it's gone before you even realize it and I never feel any different afterwards on acid.
(Btw I trip on atleast 400mic, but usually a little more when I do LSD.

I have had the same experience with psychedelics in general, not only LSD.

Psychedelics made me not want to drink alcohol anymore, too. I like this a lot, although I don't like explaining at *every* party I go to why I don't drink anymore. I used to drink a lot ;).

Thank you everyone for the responses. This is really cool. I wasn't aware of this aspect of psychedelics before, but now it has just raised them to a higher pedestal in my mind. I think that I will continue to smoke pot, I'll just limit it to when I have free time on the weekends.
