Guns are cool aren't they? I find people who live in the city their whole life have this stigma about guns that the country folk don't have. They're tools, they keep our bellies full, and keep us safe from predators in places more untamed. And when it comes right down to it shooting a gun is downright fun. To all those who have never discharged a firearm, get out and do some target practice, it's a blast. :) Find someone who can teach you basic firearm safety first of course. ;)

Sure sounds like that guy does have one badass collection, that Dragunov would be one fine piece of machinery. :)

I've decided to scratch my 2C-B plans for tonight. I got invited to a bonfire and since I haven't been very social at all and am watching the summer pass me by I've decided I'm going to get snickered three sheets to the dang ol wind and connect with my friends again. :)

Just about to get some joints pre-rolled. :)

Whys that? I've never shot a gun, nor ever will- the closest I've come to guns is handling one, and feeling pretty repulsed. I dunno, dress it how you like it, they are indeed tools; to kill. Generally, I'm against any killing :\
 
Yeah, I don't like killing either. Hence, I've never been too into guns. I... can kind of see how you might find the mechanics interesting... but I don't know, imo, they shouldn't exist at all. A few of my friends are into it though, so I try to get it. :)

I didn't end up tripping today either. A friend of mine came by, we smoked a bit and drank some beers. Definitely a good time. I hear fireworks.... I'm just not at them. ahah.
 
What a great night. I rode real hard on my trainer (cycling) while watching the prologue of the tour de france in HD (Tivo is awesome). After the ride I took some hydrocodone and went outside to watch the fireworks (big fireworks show near my house, very convenient since I can watch from my house), and then I came back in to finish watching the prologue. I'm also currently listening to STS9 prerecorded from rothbury. mmm...
 
I personally find guns to be quite enjoyable. If used wrong of course they can be a dangerous weapon, but if used responsibly they can be a great time.

It would be nice if they didn't exist at all, but 90 percent of what humans do/use I don't think should exist at all. I'm not very found of the human race to be honest, we took the wrong path imo.

I feel like this to, why is it that humans have so much ability to do good and will chose to do evil most of the time...will we ever become human beings in the true sense of the word, will civilization ever become civilized.

shooting at targets can be an ok way to pass time, if you can get out in the country, but it takes away from the experience of "being away from it all" so to speak. Guns have a use I spose me running after my lunch aint gonna work very often.

It isn't even about being good or being evil. Nor is it about becoming civilized. It is about functioning harmoniously with our environment, our home. We don't live sustainably, we live destructively. Our influence on this world harms all those around us. We've made countless species of animals extinct and will continue to do so. Or footprint is huge and I can only hope when we are gone that we don't leave a permanent scare.
 
I knew I was about to open up a can of worms.

I view guns as tools, similar to psychedelics. They can be used for good or evil. Guns have the capacity to kill, they have the capacity to save. It's all in the being they're being used by. The higher powers we're being given by psychedelics to do good can easily be used by non-altruistic people to do damage.

As humans we're given our high intellectual powers that are able to to design powerful psychedelic drugs as well as powerful guns. No doubt the fact remains that many of us wouldn't be here if it wasn't for guns. In order to conquer the wild and proliferate we needed to use the powers that we were privileged to.

We do what we need to survive. Harsh, I know; but it's reality.

Firing off a gun to hone my skills, or firing off a gun to put food on the table feels very natural and human to me. What can I say?

I accomplished my mission for the night. I am absolutely slaughtered. Drunk beyond believe, it took many respelling of words in this post to make it legible. Made some strong connections with my friends, spent half an hour lying in the wet grass blitzed beyond belief while smoking a cigarette, starring at the stars, and realizing the next trip I want to take is a full and strong dose of LSD. :)

I was the fireman tonight. I built the fire and kept it going, keeping the people warm and putting it out after everyone was gone. It's been a good night. :) I feel like a man. :) <3

It's been one hell of a night :)

Indingenous Australians never "invented/discovered" guns, and had the longest contually running civivlisation on earth, until 'colonised'. Now, we may have 'advanced' tenchologically, but, by the looks of it, these more tribal groups had it right; they never self-destructed, which is where gun-totin' humanities heading.

I dunno- I do not see how guns can be compared to psychedelics, no matter how much I strech my mind. Guns have one purpose: killing. :\

Anyway, this topic is pointless really, people have their views on this matter, and thats that. We'd be a better world without guns thats for sure. Humans, with our "greater inltellect" often need som restraint in regards our animal instincts; having something (ie. a gun) with which to act violently and impulsively= not good for humans.

That said, I'm a pacifist becuase I used to be extremely violent- I've learned the hard way, and thank god we don't have guns in Australia (that much). We just use knives ;)

Fuck guns.
 
Using a tool that harnesses a controlled explosion to send a projectile out of a tube, at ridiculous speeds, and hitting where you intended, is very fun. I don't like sport hunting, I hate any violence.

Yes guns were created with the intent of killing, but when it comes down to it, it's a hunk of metal. It has no good or evil characteristics.
 
In the greater sense you're right swil. Guns are used to kill. It's that killing of another species to advance ourselves that has gotten us where we are. Fist to fist; a tiger or lion would have us in the stomach, but we survived.

At this point in our evolution we don't need gun unless we're traveling dangerous country. If you were in Svalbard with your wife and kids by your side and had a hungry polar bear galloping your way with it's teeth showing and you had a rifle by your side would you let the polar bear maul your family (because it's wrong to use guns) or blast it away? The choice is clear.

Other than a situation like that, guns have probably caused the human race much harm by ending up in the wrong hands and shooting at ourselves.

I've gotten myself in a lot of shit in another part of BL recently and I feel like shit. I don't want to perpetuate this.
