So who's everyone elses favourite Bowler n why?

Hadlee for being about a million times better than anyone else NZ has ever had. Even if he was/is a prick.

Jeremy Coney because I was a schoolboy at his club and he coached me once and was a genuinely nice guy.

I choose Vaas cos of his consistency , cos i've met him n he's a really nice guy n Murali wouldn't have all of thoose wickets if weren't 4 Vaas at the other end .

Dunno about that mate, Murali is easily good enough in my eyes to have got all his wickets no matter who was bowling at the other end. I remember watching him once at Edgbaston. The pitch wasn't really doing much for him so he was bowling leg breaks ala Shane Warne. Not his doosra, bowling like a specialist leg spinner. He was getting wickets doing it too, I think we either lost easily or we just clung on for the draw then lost the next test at Trent Bridge easily due to there being no rain delays. A true magician.

My favourite bowler is either Courtney Walsh cos of his attitude, bowling class (obviously) and most of all for his slower ball. The one that totally bamboozled Graham Thorpe (at his peak) twice and very, very nearly a third time.

Walsh or (and I know it's obvious) but Shane Warne. The amount that guy spun the ball was immense. His control, flight, drift and variations made him truly brilliant.

I also enjoyed Saqlain Mushtaq for a while. His doosra was virtually impossible to pick (even with a close up slow mo replay) and he got purchase with it too. Remember, he had no physical freak deformity like Murali.

Bowler I would say hadlee too. Agree he is a cunt though.

As for the others....

Viv Richards because I saw him hit the biggest six ever clean over the stand at Eden Park. And he never wore a helmet.

Close second would be Jeffery Dujon because he was so acrobatic behind the stumps.

Dropped his cap on the bails once or twice though. Great batsman regardless.

Bowlers? Waqar Younis springs to mind for reverse swing. Malcolm Marshall for the delivery. Curlty Ambrose for menace.

Javed Miandad as a batsman? Goood times for my Pakistani friends at school.

i once met Martin Crowe at my local cricket club a really good bloke. Had plenty of time to chat.
Martin Guptill also has represented Bath CC

I was in Kandy (His Home ToWn) when Murali went past the test wicket Record , it was bedlam their was a huge poster of him in the ground and when he took the wicket of Collingwood their was gun fre in the air the lot , a coup[le of stray bullets actually hit the huge poster.
Great tour terrible cricket from England though , they just couldn't hack it on the dry pitches.

Any1 else following the Test ? Would be a ridiculous if England were not to win this one . We have had amazing luck what with Zaheer pulling up lame , Gambhir getting whacked on the elbow and areally undercooked Indian team that don't look at their best in traditional English conditions.

If Zaheer doesn't bowl in the series we have to be clear favourites . The Indians will improve , but i think this is the oppourtunity that we have been waiting for to top the test rankins for the 1st time in a very long time.

Wow, being in Kandy when Murali took that wicket? I bet that was absolutely mental!! I agree, bad tour from us tho, it's like the Indians having trouble adjusting to our conditions right now. For me, it's the mark of a good team to be able to adapt and win in someone else's back yard.

I also agree that this HAS to be our opportunity to go number 1 in the world, especially after doing them at Lords. It looks like Zaheer Khan is out until the last test at the earliest too. Australia? India? South Africa? Aaaaaah, England r gonna be number 1!!

Even if we do win this series convincingly thus making us no.1 , untill we can do it on the Sub continent as well theirs no way that you can be classed as a great team imo.

Yeah Kandy was fukin mental one of the best sporting memories i'll probably ever have.

So India have gone with the mercurial talents of Sreesanth , cos Zaheer is unfit.
Can't belive they gave the new ball to Kumar the guy can only get up to 80 mph and only swings it one way .
Sreesanth on the other hand can swing it both ways and bowl in the high 80s .
Sharma just took Cook lbw as i'm typing , i lookfwrd to a competitive game.
Glad to see Bresnan in the team , i think he'll do well at Trent bridge .

sharma's had quite a serious haircut.

lol "it's a good line to the right hander... unfortunately it's the left hander on strike"

Well I gotta say I love cricket even more now!!

If things stay as they are then England r the world's number 1 test team, hoorah!!

The Indians look very weary and generally just not up for it .
The England bowling attack on the other hand are on Fire , could be a whitewash at this rate.

Edit above post it will be a 4-0 series at this rate. I watched most of the coverage yesterday and apart from Dhoni batting like he can and how the circumstances of the match dictated the Indian batting line up were so disapointing , Dravid did get an unplayable delivery from Bresnan but the rest were just sloppy.
Sehwag out 1st ball , not surprising when he hadn't played any proper cricket for months.
Never have i seen a team that were ranked 1st in the world perform so badly .
its a shame to see Tendulkar and the rest gettin worked over so easy , i was looking forward to a competitive series.
Sri Lanka were better than India , and they are a team in transition without any of the resources of the Indians.

Agreed on winning the series 4 - 0. I think the Indians are mentally defeated, losing Khan was massive blow to them psychologically I believe.
This England team looks to be one of the strongest cricket sides I can remember - time will tell if that can continue to make it one of the all time great teams.
I wonder what score england wll get in the first innings - I guess 555ish for 6 declared

Jesus, 710-7 dec?! The 3rd highest ever score from an England team!

I gotta say that I am sad that India haven't put up more of a fight. If they were Bangladesh we'd be saying they don't even deserve to have test status! Yes, India r tired and lost their best bowler but is this how little they have in reserve? Makes u wonder how they ever got to No 1 in the 1st place. Tendulkar, Laxman, Singh (both of them) have all been particularly bad. And Sehwag?! Poor bloke... If we lost Anderson and Broad then we'd still have Tremlett, Finn, Onions etc, etc, strength in depth is making us No 1.

India just look like they wanna go home, it's an embarrassment if ur an Indian I reckon. I'd be bloody furious, tired team or not. Disappointed that the hype has been a lload of balls, India r shit. I was looking forward to a real test and some tough competition. They'll lose this one by an innings and a lot of runs IMO.
