Malinga is a genius- I wish I could do that, I like throwing things and making them swerve and cause breakage etc but it's more about the control of the swerve, when you pull it off ( this is from memories long past) it's pure pleasure

I had the pleasure of meeting him along with Chimada Vaas and Murali in Columbo in 2007.
They were absolute Gents and i've still got my signed Floppy hat.:)
shame he has retired from Tests , but if that means we get to see more of him then i can live with that.
Bowling like that for extended spells must be torture on the body.

I rembeber Wasim n Waquar n this Guy is definatley up their with those two with his ability to Reverse and conventionally swing the old and New ball.

Yes Wasim was a genius, did you see that guy who got banned - Amir ? he was playing for Pakistan in the series where they got called for match fixing - he was impressive

Very, only 17n i think .
He was in a no win situation , imagine your a17 year old kid in the pakistan dressing room n the Capt. tells you to do something ?
You do it .:\
Fortunatley he only got 5 years so should be able to make acome back he was a definate talent.
On the other hand the senior bowler Asif , another excellent bowler with a deceptive action and impressive slower ball , he had no excuses.
I really rated him as a test Bowler and it makes you feel cheated when these things come out.
Most Pakistanis would give anything to play Test cricket for their country and to see this abuse of position is sickening.

I agree 100% with what you say about that, personally I hope they shorten his sentence due to the fact that he's a minor & probably being in England would maybe seem like outer space if he was from the sticks.
I reckon the "corruption" went higher but as ever the little guy gets the blame.

How many times over the years have you seen a young pakistani bowler burst on to the scene only to disapear without trace ?
Plenty ,
Povert, Politics , Religion and Sport a vloatile mix.

Mohammed Amir and Mohammed Asif......those two got banned......i think asif was as talented as glen mc grath with his ability to hit the spot and make the ball talk with movement off the seam...bur he was a serial offender so serves him right i guess. such a shame about amir tho..was great fun to watch those two.

besides that...cant wait for the ipl to get over and some proper 5 day cricket to begin!!!

Asif was decent , with his short run up and decieveing action.

Glen McGrath was probably the best seam bowler ever , when he done his ankle in the 2005 ashes , that was the turning point of the whole series.

Had he not tripped over that ball in warm up things would have been diffeent i'm sure.

You could almost hear the collective sigh of relief from the England Batsmen when they knew he was out of the series.

glen mc grath was the best i have seen no doubt

i was in australia at the time when 2005 ashes were being played...after the first test it seemed like another hammering by the aussies...but then glen mcgrath got out...and simon jones bowling the way he did....was pretty amazing when england won...people australia just couldnt believe it...

feel pretty bad abt simon jones too.....he was some fast bowler...england could have been on another level with him in the side.

1st Test of the summer.#
No Murali to terrories us anymore.
He took 16 in amatch once over here ,
Will be intresting to see the New Sri lanka Bowling attack. Post Vass , Murali n Malinga(one dayers only 4 him)
90% of their wickets would come from Murali n Vass back a few years.
Always good 2 watch batting , The openers adapted to the Duke ball ok so far , it's ahuge difference in conditions for the Sri Lankan's to addapt .
The two best Batsem M Jaywherdene n Sangakarra look like they need 2 get used to the Duke ball after playing IPL wit the Kookaburu.
Dilshan looked good yesterday.
I see Mendis made the team , non batting mystery spinner , i wonder if he will adapt to the conditions ?
He's amazing on the Sub . Cont.
should be good .
It's nice to havea bit of REAL cricket .
I got some Somerset tickets for a game of my choice.
Taunton is anice little ground , famous for its short boundaries and Flat batting pitch, loadsa of 600 plus totals over the years. I prefer a more bowling freindly surface personally .

Sorry for barging in on your thread lads but being unemployed at the moment and not having much to do.... that fuckin IPL isn't bad at all. Some of those birds are fuckin lookers.

If you like the IPL then you should pop your head in here

Pretty poor effort by Sri Lanka in that 2nd innings but at least the Test didn't peter out to a dour draw. Hopefully the rest of the series is a bit more competitive.

And +2 on real cricket back in action. Did any one seriously follow the IPL?

One Matty Prior. There's only one Matty Prior.

Unfortunately there is one Kevin Pietersen too. One too many.

Wtf is it with the rain in London yesterday and today? Bright sunny and warm days here in Wales.

Pain in it , although i do enjoy listening to Henry Blofeld, 4 a Eton posh un he is really entertaining .
What do you think of him SHM ?
I listened to his Desert Island Discs the other day n it was funny.
Have yet 2 see Fire in Babylon but defo will , the soundtrack is supposed 2 be great as well.

^

Haha, yeah, it's hard to get all 'class war' against Blofeld.

CMJ on the other hand...

I think its a good mix Boycott is on one as i type !
Tufnell has been really good imo , wasn't 2 sure at 1st but he fits in nicely. Not so sure about Vaugn though seems a bit of a dick at times.
Great player n captain mind.
