*Ehem*
Cricket Records between Australia and New Zealand
Tests: Australia (27 won) New Zealand (8 won)
One Day: Australia (84 won) New Zealand (34 won)
20-20: Australia (4 won) New Zealand (0)

I think we know who has the overall historical advantage in the "we love cricket thread".

As split enz once sang, history never repeats. Who one the last test match?

Won thousand words. Not that one though.

Hey, One Thousand Words, aussie101: this thread has long been one of the best on Bluelight. Some really knowledgeable people, some really interesting discussions. If you guys want to trash talk each other, could you maybe take it to PM?

Anyway: the cricket. Surprised to see Bruce Martin in as the NZ spinner. 20 wickets in his last 10 matches, never playe an international. I know we don't have many options, but surely McCullum would be better? And he can bat a bit. I'm glad Fulton's back in as an opener, and that McCullum has dropped down the order. Would much rather have him coming in as a middle-order threat than risk losing him early on. I think our team's on the way up, but England should be too strong.

(Also, some crazy scores in NZ domestic 50-over games: batting first Wellington scored 309 in 39 overs, Central scored over 400 and Auckland scored 356, and all of them could easily have lost).

Pissed off it was washed out .
Swanny gone for career saving Elbow surgery ? Let's hope it goes well .

Todays forecast is fine, alas supposed to piss down again on saturday.

Been watching bits and pieces of Aus V India, surprised at how badly Aus are getting thrashed.
With the exception of Clarke they dont seem to have a bat worth a lick.

They are basically on the road from now on till last week of September, what with the IPL and then the whole summer in England, so lets hope they get a good thrashing in the ashes.

18-3 what the hell is going on ??

Um, it's called Dunedin in March. I wasn't joking when I said NZ had the advantage. They won the toss and were all going to bowl first. What NZ's bowlers lack in pace they make up for in being able to swing the ball and bowl to contain. That's why their pop gun attack can be competitive in 50 overs. Pity I am stuck at work with no chance of hooking this up live on the net :(

Fuck yeah! I had to step away and give a nurse a gob full and a written warning and when I get back Bell is gone and it's 5/81.

Wake up IJ, this might not last long.

LOL, you're making me feel old though. I got Ken's autograph the day he scored his first test century....

Just watching the highlights now. It's like the usual NZ home test where the pitch is a minefield when we bat and a flat track when the touring team does. Only in reverse =D

I shaved off the shoulders of my net bat so I could be like lance cairns if that makes you feel better. ;)

Been a long time since I haven't prayed for rain going into day three, then again our problem is we rarely string together more than one good day in any test. We do bat with a short tail so hopefully we can get a 200 plus lead and get it done in 4 days.

Tough day ahead for England if they want to save this, even in 4 days.

Pathetic bowling effort yesterday, not that the batting was much better lol
