I think they see him as a good all rounder. He can bat but more the solid 30-40 odd, not a run a ball hundred they miss from say a Gilchrist. The Aussies just get hard as soon as you mention leg spinning to be honest.
 
Lets finally beat the Aussies in a test series first then we can start divvying up the teams.

The world cup is looking like a short trip for the Kiwi's next year I'm afraid. :(
 
I have beenso impresed with Englands fielding in this series. Even our not so athetic guys like Trott n Strauss have been combining like a pair of gazzelles!
KP did his thing which on his day is the best at in the modern era, even took the Clarke wicket!
Unlucky 4 Broady beacause as well as his bowling u don't get many test no8s that can bat like him,
Maybe Tremlett may treplace him . What do u guys rekon?

Byall account's the oz media are kinda willing this team to fail, as what us poms usually do , but this time i have been pleased with the positivety fom the press,

Stayed up all last night was worth it OZ are in tatters if it weren't 4 the lower order we could have had em 4 under 150. When it 69 for 5 i was lovin it shame we couldn't of played it a bit more tactical n slowed the game down n frustrated em then imo they would have given their wickets away even easier ,. C'mon England
 
Half way through Ponting averages 20, Clarke 23. Finn, Swann and Anderson 11 wickets apiece.

There's only one team here.
 
Long years of supporting NZ have taught me to only start gloating when both sides have batted.

Looks like we might have an interesting series, though the Sky commentators are saying they expect the pitch to flatten for the 4th innings.

And as I say that England get the breakthrough....good ball...tide turning? :D

And who are you gonna bring in for Collingwood ? Bear in mind he's Englands best fielder . Would Bresnan be any better? imo Bell has 2 bat at 5 but we should stick with Colly cos his fielding can change a match , one amazing catch or run out can have a huge effect on a test match.

It's a nice idea. We had the balls to bring in Trott last year at the Oval and he's amazing since. Morgan in for Colly, Bell up to 4, KP and Morgan at 5 and 6.

Now that's what I call a batting line-up. :)

England to retain the Ashes at the 'G. Lovely. :)
 
MCG filling up, England bowling. From what I read last week, bowling first was the way to go, but the commentators now are saying there won't be much pace in the pitch.

And as I type that, there's an edge to the slips but it doesn't carry. Good ball from Anderson. No, it did carry, Colly dropped it.

Hope you all get to watch some of the game over the holidays :)
