We Love Cricket Thread 2nd Innings

No, just your beer drinking pants. And you have to keep them on for 5 days. This was obviously taken day one when the Poms were full of confidence. Not a lot of singing day 2….

You only have to look at the doctored pitches during the English season for your answer. Flat and dry, all to negate the Australian quicks who use the ball and help swann get some turn. It isn't really a surprise they are struggling now. Thats not to say the Gabba pitch is rubbish. I'd argue it is one of the best Test pitches in the world. Good bounce with plenty for a good bowler to extract, yet consistent enough for a batsman to score runs.

The English are going to struggle in Perth if this is any indication.

Yeah you're right brimz, there's a big difference between our seamers and real fire pace like Johnson is bringing.

So what's the poms chances in the second test?

I confident in Australia doing it again, but not at the completely cocky arrogant stage ;)

Even first day. The pitch is still a massive unknown, could just as likely break up day 4.

NZ flogging the West Indies. Where was this when I was a kid in the 70's & 80's?

Three kiwis implicated in match fixing. If you were placing a bet on batting slow, dropping catches and throwing a match surely you would get juicier odds on any other team than nz in the past decade.

Bugger, we were taught a lesson in accumulating runs today.

And you just knew someone would fall early on.

So why has an hour of pretty poor attritional batting from Root and Carberry got me way more positive than I have a right to be?

The pitch is getting flatter by the session. You are playing for a draw and hopefully batting long enough to wear out their bowlers in time for Perth.

If root had any more padded protection he would be considered a legitimate form of contraception by the Vatican

I'm hoping the pitch roughs up, otherwise Nathan Lyon will have almost 0 degrees of turn ;)

I'm waiting in anticipation for the first session of day 3

Should have reviewed the last delivery of the day, would have be out lbw. Imagine if they could walk onto the field first thing and call for a review from the night before.

West Indies effectively 46/6 with the last day to play. NZ's bowlers pretty much worn out after making them follow on but surely a good night sleep and push on from here. You don't get an opportunity like this too often in Dunedin. 5 days with out losing a day due to rain? Umpossible.

This review system is going somewhere...where that place is? I do not know

I've ever been to "delightful Dunedin", but I will one day know of this weather you write of.

I'll keep an eye on the Windies Kiwi matches too. What is this match fixing you have referred to? I wouldn't know of such things, being Australian and all ;P

Cairns, tuffey and Vincent all being investigated by the ICB corruption team for when they were playing in the IPL. Cairns stopped commentating mid way through the test because of it

What do they expect from 20/20? To many meaningless games in India is going attract plenty of skull drudgery.

Shit, eh. Cricket would be a difficult game to match fix in test form, but I think the 20/20 games do have the potential to be significantly changed by the performance of even one player.

I've had the "20/20 is not real cricket" conversation a fair few times. Test cricket will always be the real form of cricket imo
