We Love Cricket Thread 2nd Innings

yeah, i thought he'd have a super stunning wife. having the pick of the girls in a country with arguably the worlds most beautiful women. she's pretty. but nothing more. strikes me as a humble family guy. which is crazy when you consider he is deified over there

this is absolutely ridiculous now. lynch the third umpire

Cook is a marketing boys wet dream
If he were any more middle england he would be the Beckham of cricket or a tennis player or golfer

dreamy middle class boy from the burbs of bedfordshire- check
White- Check
not too old- check
scores runs- check
doesnt booze or punch people - check

its not that test cricket is holding Cook back, more like the ECB is holding him back

If he played in the IPL he would be making just as much £££ as any of the other " white guys" ie vetorri or both Morkel brothers

..and wouldnt be crushing test attacks for double hundreds much longer either

im sure he's fine for money atm, as per your point

Cook made £1.1 million last year total earnings incl image rights & sponsorships

The Aussie Glenn Maxwell made £800,000( net)for 6 weeks work in the IPL and he isnt even in the Aussie test team.
And that was just his base salary

It has its problems but to be fair it's better than beans on toast for the third night in a row.

Ipl is a festering scab on test cricket but corruption will destroy it within 5 years unless the BCCI is cleaned out.

Agar is something else for a 19 yr old. He just might be the next Vitori if the can get some turn and take a wicket or two. At least he isn't a pimply bore like Root.

Engalnd really need to get to lunch without losing another wicket, great start today but we always make it hard for ourselves.....

Australia To Beat England with One Player

=D

AUSTRALIA will contest the Ashes using just Ashton Agar, captain Michael Clarke has confirmed.

Will he get tired? No

Agar said being busy helps keep him interested

After scoring a third of Australia’s innings yesterday, the teenager will bowl out England’s batting line-up today while simultaneously acting as wicket keeper and fielding in second slip.

Clarke said: “We’ll still stand on the pitch, applauding and saying ‘bowled, Agar’ occasionally for the look of the thing but I reckon he’s got this one himself.

“He’s a young lad so I reckon Australia need not produce another decent cricketer for another fifteen years, and what better place to start that run of cricketing inactivity than England?”

Agar batted at eleventh man yesterday to give the rest of the squad the chance to have their photograph taken batting at an Ashes match, inadvertently scoring 182 runs in the process.

Australia will have Agar open the batting after he bowls England out sometime before lunch today, to ensure the handful of runs required can be scored quickly enough to give the team a free weekend.

Agar said: “Looks like it’s going to be pretty hot today so I reckon I’ll skittle out whatever run total England set wearing shorts and a vest.”

It would indeed, as long as a certain IR Bell keeps his nerve!

And he reached his 50... closer and closer to that 200 lead...

Fuck me well done Broad for not walking and Aleem Dar for being a twat and levelling things up a bit with the decisions. I'd still bet against Bell getting a 100. Maybe we've suffered his whole test career for this one match winning innings. IF it turns out that way. 260 is a good lead and a small miracle from the psychological downer of that tenth wicket stand. 300 lead says we win. But likesay, Bell's not my favourite and if he goes third ball, the whole tail could collapse for another two runs like in the first innings. Bat until midday, we're favourites, bat until lunch and we will win. In a way we need Swann to bat AND bowl well. It could be his day.
