Halong Bay I actually didn't like, I felt like cattle, it was impossible to go anywhere alone, I usually like to wander alone with my head in the clouds but there you had to be with a group all the time, leave a boat, follow the rest like a sheep inside the cave, take your souvenir photos, then swiftly leave said cave as another group of 40 tourists have to enter. Get back on the boat, repeat. Horrible. The scenery is very nice though, but still.

If I were you I'd go to Malaysia, best place in Asia for me, Perenthian islands just off the state of Terengannu like a few miles south of the Thai border are amazing, there's two islands, one small and one bigger, they are awesome, seriously one of the best places I ever been too.

^thats what we were thinking actually, Halong you almost seem to 'have' to go with a tour group / part of a cruise. I don't like to be rushed or told what to look at / enjoy and like my own space and time to just wander about.

Going off the idea of Vietnam now.
