video game: Halo 3 (Xbox 360)

The real raising of the bar for this game has come about with with the Forge function & the theatre mode. Mark my words, these features will have a huge impact on gaming's future. It's introduced a a YouTube/user-created content element to console gaming.

Single-player is all too brief & a mite disappointing though, I have to admit, but Bungie made a rod for their own backs in a sense by absolutely nailing it with Halo1. It's not easy to make the same impact with a sequel when your first shot at a genre single-handedly revolutionises it.

I have played Halo 3 Splitscreen, and it was amusing to the point of amazement. The weapons are so much tons of fun, and the levels are quite well thought out.

I can't wait to play halo 3. I don't even have an xbox 360 but I'm seriously considering buying one just to get this game. I would of course get other games but halo 3 would be the first for sure.

I can picture it now. Halo Movie. And a scene where Cheif and The Arbiter are in a really dark cold area and they have their flash-lights on. They're nervous and they can hear growling and hissing in the distance. Suddenly viscious screams turn into them being under attack by massive amounts of The Flood jumping at them from all directions and they fight them off!

And ofcourse, the suspenseful music from the game has to be the same for the movie!

They really did it right, such a well put together game all in all.

One of my favorite features though is being able to veto a mutliplayer game before it starts. No more phantom swords!

Swords are actually a lot more tolerable in the new game too. I like how if you both strike at eachother simultaneously, the swords clash and no damage gets through.

Halo 3 is awesome.. I'd never played Halo or Halo 2 so I can't really judge how much is "new" but now I see why Halo has such a large following.

That said..

I really hate having stupid team mates. I've thrown my controller at the wall twice now.

Once when a banshee was raping our team over and over and I was waiting for the missile launcher pod to spawn. It finally pops up and I run over to pick it up and someone else gets it first. Then the banshee comes flying in and the guy fires ONE missile.. the banshee does a turn around our base and as it's flying away the guy fires ONE MORE missile.. and then he gets killed and the other team picks it up. Spent the last 5-10 minutes of the game dying from the banshee over and over again because of his stupidity. It was team slayer and the only reason we lost was because of all the kills the banshee got at the end.

The other time was playing multi CTF and the other team picks up our flag and the guy gets into a warthog. I jump in a warthog too and drive up to THREE team members who are RUNNING after the warthod and I'm honking the horn yelling "GET IN THE FUCKING CAR SO WE CAN GO AFTER HIM" and I'm like 2 feet away from 3 people and they just keep running instead of getting in. Another lost game due to stupidity.

I don't care when I lose but I fucking hate it when I lose because someone else doesn't understand the most basic concepts.

My only real complaint though is that there is no matchmaking for custom/forge games which makes them useless for me. I haven't played a single custom/forge game yet. I mean how fucking obvious can it be to a game developer that they should include a way for you to find people to play with in all online game modes? Seems pretty obvious to me.

My preferred playlist is Double Team. It's easy to find one competent friend that you can work well together and go on a spree of destruction.

sometimes that game(or rather the people playing it) is down right infuriating.

im so pissd my 360 broke a week before halo came out. and i cant get it fixd cuz i voided the warranty by changing my case to black. im happy though cuz im playing unreal 3 demo on my pc yay

a lot of fun, but the story was so-so. i couldn't hear much of the ingame dialogue and only the cut scenes had subtitles.

10 days after getting my xbox360, i've finished both gears of war and halo 3. i prefered the former in single player but the latter in multiplayer.
fuckin run and fuckin gun!

the scarabs were fantastic fun! but the flood were annoying as hell.

Sometimes I think about throwing my controller at my LCD screen.... because I often think about breaking valuable things, so I don't worry about them breaking... kinda weird huh?

Halo 3 is cool. COD4 is cool. I play both. I personally hope they release some add-on levels for co-op play(H3)... like add something somehow that happened "in between"all the action in Halo 3... But that won't happen.

I just think it's kind of a waste of a perfectly good engine.

cos i've got an xbox, and halo 3 is the only game i've got so far, and i'm shit.

but on a brighter note, i did get promoted to private on xbox live tonight.

i like 'rocket race', especially when the other guy is driving cos i can smoke at the same time.
