my roommate got this for PS3 last night and we played it quite thoroughly until 4 a.m. or so. It's amazing. :)

aye, me too. that first car you get is fucking awful! but if you get the banshee it's much better. i'm nae too impressed that the handbrake is on the same side as the accelerator... on the PS2 it was easy to powerslide round corners on the handbrake. maybe i just need practice. meh, a very minor gripe, apart from that it's FUCKING BRILLIANT! :D
Yeah, tried a couple of other cars and I'm a bit happier now. And yeah, handbrake and accelerator on same side of control panel = epic fail. :D

There is an option to change the controls, but I'm not sure if that's one of them.

how is multiplayer? whats it like?
I've been playing Free Play to get a better understanding of the geography. It's fun enough, but I don't think I'll ever get tired of strafing in a police helicopter and minigunning other players down (been doing that for the last two hours). That said, the minigun is pretty ineffectual on vehicles.

Actually, landing on people and squashing them is fun too.

Oh yeah, did I mention that I found a helicopter with a minigun attached? :D

^^ mutliplayer sounds amazing. When your trying to find other players to kill, is there still pedestrians roaming around and other cars on the road? Or is it like a ghost-town scenario where the only people are the other players on Xbox live?

I cant believe I didnt pre order this game. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Has anyone had any luck walking into the store to buy it straight off the shelves?

Yeah, plenty of peds to mow down. It's a living, breathing city - cops, army and everything. Other players are shown as coloured blips on map/mini-radar. Restricted to 8 or 16 players (I think), which sounds comparatively few, but you can get around pretty quickly and it gives you time to re-stock and re-arm without being hassled by other players.

There's so many amazing little moments that I don't want to spoil... not even story elements, just things that make you think... oh wow, that's cool. At one point, at night, I landed on a rooftop above a firefight involving three other players on the road below. I started sniping them (much fun) from the rooftop. It started raining and I sorta angled the camera upwards to look towards the sky as I could hear the chaingun of another chopper being fired, and little droplets of water collected on the "lens". It's so cinematic. You can tell that they've wanted to make this their masterpiece.

There are a few graphical glitches here and there, but they're pretty minor.

rocket launcher socks my rocks off!

now a couple minor pesky gripes. niko's accent fluctuates. sometimes he sounds a bit like ice cube. and they pronounce his name bel-lick, instead of bel-itch :X

What's more Rockstar's humour?

Being called Bell Lick, or Bell Itch? :D

spill the beans pls.
LCPD near airport.

On the southern side of the LCPD building there is a stairwell that is partially concealed. Climb up it onto the roof, turn right and there will be a brand spanking new super-happy-flying-kill-kill-machine.

People can hitch a ride. Not sure how many though.

oh, watch the ingame tv. i literally laughed out loud a few times! "vinewood ...." ftw!

and later, when you walk around you can hear pedestrians talking about the tv shows. :D

I got it right off the shelves with no pre-order... but you also have to take into account that in 2 or 3 square miles around my house there's about 12 video game stores.
