[VIC] Rainbow Serpent 2011 (21 Jan - 24 Jan)

Yeah it is pretty amazing, when I saw it all for the first time I wasnt sure what to expect but it definitely exceeded any expectations. I'm interested in seeing what Alex grey is going to bring to the table though would be interesting to go to one of the workshops.

As for the line up I'm not too excited about it so far... But am looking forward to seeing the domestic line up.

Oh MAN i cannot wait for Rainbow Serpent 2011!!

Line up is looking pretty decent so far! Look forward to seeing Khainz, the members of the Shpongle crew and Atmos. A lot of the artists will surprise you i reckon!

Mmmm need to start working on a campsite setup as the wind never ceases to blow us away :P

2012, maybe - we have some pretty serious plans next year, and Rainbow, unfortunately, has slid right down the ladder of priorities in our lives :| It's really bummed us, but house/potential travel and other stuff has taken precedence.

Fair enough, I know the impact of other commitments . . . . . but you have to keep your eye on the ball of what you want.

In short yes it does. Rainbow serpent embraces the aboriginal culture and often the opening and closing ceremonies incorporates aboriginal dancing and performance. :) it's quite awesome.

What does Hari Om mean?
Thanks! Shoots cool. Really good to see our culture used in positive ways!!!!!
Hari Om is Krishna's name coupled with the universal sound (of peace) so supposedly our world is a better place every time it's said (or thought).
Don't really know if it works but WTF may as well try ^_^

Exactly why we're forfeiting the festival again this year :) Besides, i wouldn't have enough leave to take a full week off (which for me is really important prep/recovery time).

I can't believe I have to fucking miss this, due to being overseas but I don't know anyone going anyway and I guess it could be weird camping by myself - especially at my virgin Rainbow experience? Hopefully I get to meet like-minded folks by Maitreya... how does that compare to the Rainbow experience, anyway?

PS: For anyone who can't make it but is keen on Alex Grey... he's doing a live art show at the Astor on 29th Jan. Right now GA tickets are sold out but balcony ones are available, 55 bucks!

Annual leave is the least of my problems, I am having 4 weeks off starting next week, when I get back I still have 6 weeks left, So need this holiday.

Looking forward to RSF11, great line up already, much more to come aparently.

Pink1966Floyd, great Avatar. Now the question is, was he a genius or complete fucking headcase?

Totally understand - I on the other hand, only started in my new role in Feb, have been to New Zealand and Thailand this year with a long weekend or 2 thrown in - so not enough leave up our sleeves. Big plans next year too, so need to save up the annual leave as much as possible. :)

I'm sure it will be a fantastic week, though - we're both bummed to not be going!

..i think I'd really like to go next year- all my mates that I went with in 2008 (for the first time. and I caught the last-ever Earthcore before that- my very first doof. bless <3) and then some are going, but my bf isn't keen (not his kinda music/scene he feels). Me and my friends gotta work more on telling him how it's not just about the music -it's the fun and funny times with your mates that make Rainbow special.
I had the idea of getting him a ticket for Christmas and then there's no excuse for him not to go hehe- cept really I wouldn't wanna pressure/force him into something he's not into,. I'd ok it with him first. also tho tickets ain't cheap and I've already done a lotta xmas shopping

admittedly theres a few aspects I don't miss like the heat./stickyness,sore back from tent, gross toilets and dirtyness plus it ends up being a pretty exspensive weekend (esp. if you want to have many party supplies). so if ends up a no-go...oh well i guess..
i'm sure you will all party on Wayne in my honour hehe

Schedule-
Day 1 - Take it easy, get some sleep and get to know some randoms.
Day 2 - hit it a little harder but avoid anything that will limit sleep.
Day 3 - go fucking mental on a mind bending journey through time and space.
Day 4 (or 5) - recover and ask the policeman standing over my half naked damaged self what town I'm in... (lexton is such a nice town)

Doing it right this time :)

Ied say that in the early days of the band he was a genius, very creative. As time and substance use took its toll on him later on he became a headcase.:D

You have had an awesome year by the sounds Samadhi, including your big event :)
On the other hand, my partner and I haven' had a holiday all year, hence the leave up my sleeve.

You never know, we might bump into you at RSF 12 ;)
