I'm not contemplating using one for my hobbies, but a friend of mine who is a nurse in a geriatric hospital in the 3rd world thinks it might help her with elderly patients whose veins are hard to locate.

My preliminary opinion to her is that affordable vein finders (less than, say, 300 dollars) are only for pediatric usage, infants having thin, translucent skins. Buying one for old folks would be a waste of money.

Has anyone in the Bluelight community experience with such devices?

Here's one at http://www.amazon.com/Venoscope-Transilluminator-Adult-Baby-Finder/dp/B001SH5BBW

A vein finder? that could be useful...I can't find my big vein in the crook of my elbow any longer I somehow got an infection down there and now my arm is swollen to all nine hells.

This is an old thread but, I just recently learned about that veinlite thing... it seems pretty fucking awesome, hah. After so many years of ruining my veins...it'd be pretty sweet to be able to find some of the deeper ones and others that I can't see anymore. I've seen videos of people using it and know that a lot of paramedics carry it around with them to help find veins on the go.

I don't see anyone paying $300-500 on such a device when they can just buy dope with all that money.

Well if you happened to be in a bit of a transitional period..have some extra money on hand and are just starting to get back into dope and chipping a bit, but have already fucked up your veins from years ago..it might sound appealing. Hah. It does to me. If you really are having a hard time hitting veins and this thing would make it that much easier.. I think I know a lot of junkies who aren't ready to quit with botched veins who'd buy it.
