Bupe Using Suboxone like Narcan?

I am a long time heroin/drug addict. Back in the late 80's and early 90's I had a Doc who would write me a script for Buprenex which I used to clean up with periodically. Buprenex is liquid buprenorphine made for injecting. I found that if I shot it on top of heroin it would ruin the high that I had from the dope.

i dont think there's enough of narcan in bupes to make for any drastic reactions.

Aside from the fact that bupe is what would stop an overdose and not narcan, the OD prevention kit I have has 2 vials of naloxone with .4mg/ml and 1ml per vial, so .8mg naloxone total and one 8mg suboxone pill has more than double with 2mg, just pointing out that you are wrong there anyway.

Yes, that's the idea behind precipitated withdrawal. That's why if you want to combine them, you have to use the buprenex first.

^ But that's pointless because the buprenorphine will block any pleasurable effects of the heroin (unless the dose of buprenorphine is below 1mg)

Yeah that's the whole point, Buprenex is 0.324mg/mL buprenorphine hcl equivalent, so unless you get out a 3-5CC rig, you can still use heroin on top of the buprenorphine at such a dose (since the vast majority of us use 1CC syringes to inject with).

How long does the cumulative total come into play for it's blocking effect? I IV about ~400-500 mcg (suboxone) about twice a day, everyday.
Does that mean I can still feel euphoria from a full agonist ? I turned down a bag the other day as I didn't think it would do anything for me. Probably good as this is the least amount of full agonists I've done in years. (1 bag in a whole month!)
I really,really wanted it though.

At that dose, the buprenorphine will diminish some of the effects, but would not fully block it. How diminished the effects would be, I can't tell you.

Hey, Sixpartseven, your reliable, and the only person I've ever heard of doing this besides my situation I described.

I got a couple questions, feel free to not answer if you feel on the spot or uncomfortable or w/e it may be, I would certainly understand, I dont bring that shit up myself.

When you reversed someones OD (i.e. saved their life)... you also said that it took awhile, Im wondering how long. . When the dude OD'd I was talking about we tried to go IV sub, didn't think it would work quick enough subL......Think it went IM and it was about 15 minutes before the dude woke up. How long did it take for the girl you saved to come to SubL? How did you keep it in her mouth...maybe a dumb question but IDK.

When your OD'd person woke up were they precipitated? Mine wasn't they said no, if anything I still feel a little buzzed, which is wierd for someone who in theory should've been through precipitated.

Do you find this thread a bit funny, even anti-harm reduction....it went about 3 pages telling people to call the ER, to absolutely never do this, it will only compound the effects, it would never work....than turns out it does work, almost undeniably....we both know people die waiting for ambo's all the time, I say if you got the tools do the job.

Are people really so selfish that they know this works and won't do it because they scared to be involved? Theyd rather what, let the person die and sneak out quietly...This is harm Reduction For Who? Your own selfish ass thats who, the dead person needs the HR not you.

IDK the whole thing is making me think, why is this not common junkie knowledge.....

Anyone have a story when they tried this and it didn't work, the person died or went coma or got worse after an OD than sub shot?

It took about 15 minutes as well. It's been 2.5 years since it happened, so I don't remember exactly, but I would guess about 15 minutes.

It wasn't hard to keep it in her mouth because it was crushed up into a fine powder and we managed to get it in before she went totally unconscious. She was on the verge of being out, but still barely able to listen to verbal commands. She held her mouth open and we had the powder in a folded corner of paper and slid it under her tongue. As soon as it hit, it became moist and stuck to the surface, dissolving fast.

She was, but it wasn't too severe. We drove her to the hospital after administering the Suboxone, but she woke up literally right as we were pulling in. Good thing, too, because recently I discovered the hospital doesn't have an ER. Funny thing is, I discovered this by having to drive her their for an OD again, this time she didn't wake up before we got there.

The time we gave her the Sub, after she woke up, we drove back to the dope house to get the dope and gear we left behind (didn't wanna take it to the hospital with us) and she did more to counter the withdrawal, but did a lot less than she did when she ODed.

Yeah, I don't really like the idea of people relying solely on Suboxone to reverse ODs. What I want people to understand is that just because this does work does not mean it should be used/relied on. Always call EMS or take the person to ER. Suboxone can be used alongside either EMS/driving to the ER in hopes that it will wake them up before help arrives. Without the Suboxone, they could die en route to the hospital or waiting for EMS, so the Suboxone could prevent that, but you should always call EMS or take them to the hospital just in case the Suboxone does not bring them out.

Also, the time it takes to prep an IV shot of Suboxone is too long, and giving it sublingual takes just as long, time that could be used with EMS/Hospital. Trying to give an IV in the excitement around the OD will be pretty hard, too.

Are people really so selfish that they know this works and won't do it because they scared to be involved? Theyd rather what, let the person die and sneak out quietly...

I sure hope not. For those people, if you're not going to call 911 or take the person to the hospital, then A) you're a dick, and B) at the very least, put some crushed up Suboxone under their tongue before ducking out like a douche bag coward.

IDK the whole thing is making me think, why is this not common junkie knowledge.....

Because BL junkies are not your average junkie. The majority of heroin users aren't nearly as educated on this stuff as we are.

Anyone have a story when they tried this and it didn't work, the person died or went coma or got worse after an OD than sub shot?

Again, I sure hope not.

Ironically the idea of using suboxone like narcan was introduced to me by my friend that happened to die of a heroin overdose in a sober house this past June. There is alot of irony in that sentence, but I'm hoping that maybe somebody may be saved by this method although calling 911 is the 1st thing that should be done in the event of OD

Yeah you can still get euphoria from a full agonist. You might just want to stick to buprenorphine but if you have a good hold on yourself, then you can definitely do something like, one shot in the morning. Then, 6-8 hours into it or so you can take the full agonist to full effect I am sure. Then, as you are back into normal WD, taking your last 400-500mcg shot will help smooth it out for you and there shouldn't be anything unpleasant about it, as long as you time it just right. Obviously waiting until you get WD symptoms is unpleasant but besides that you should be fine.

I wouldn't exactly say "to full effect." It will be close, but not full.

Yeah I guess that would depend on a few factors. I would be able to feel the full effect but I know that's not the same case for everyone. There are quite a few factors which play into it really. Dose of buprenorphine is one, how quickly you metabolize drugs is another, etc.

I'm glad you pointed that out though because everyone's experience is different, and other people need to wait much longer than just 6-8 hours.

I have taken 8-12mgs of suboxone, then none for 2 days and on the third day railed 150mgs of OC and felt literally nothing. I have done the same thing many times with dope, even waited till the 4th day, shot 5 bags, felt nothing.

I guess i just matabolize drugs really slowly unless it was the dose of suboxone that blocked my receptors 3 to 4 days later.

I took 5mgs of suboxone yesterday, planning on getting whatever opiates i can tomorrow for the first time in almost 2 months. I hope it works though, as i wasted 5 bags a couple weeks ago. Ill probably save it for saturday if im not feeling any slight withdrawals.

Using bupe to prevent OD

Can buperenorphine be used to overcome overdose of another opiate? Say for example, if someone took 100mg methadone accidentally, would taking bupe block it and prevent OD?

LOL u gook, you'll be fine you've had like 50mg just dont go to sleep, bupe will probably make things worse <3

I mean in general, to what extent can bupe be used to prevent OD, since it has a ceiling for respiratory effects in general
