I have seen multiple people say both against and for home depot's acetone when used to wash adulterated cocaine.

some claimed that it was not at all close the the purity needed, so i did some research.

i located home depot's supplier and got the MSDS on the acetone.

http://www.wmbarr.com/ProductFiles/KS Acetone (1640.1) 11-13-08.pdf

according to this the concetration of acetone is 100%. so this should be good enough for an acetone wash of cocaine, correct?

If its 100% pure as it says you'd be set, but for some reason I thougt acetone was only sold diluted (in stores). If it has any water, it'll fuck up the whole cleanup process (since coke is water soluble). I believe you can use magnesium sulfate, aka epsom salts, to absorb any water that is present, if there is any to begin with. Might be a good idea to do anyway even if it is "100%."

You could do as stated above. Or instead just buy anhydrous acetone from any website. I do that. I just buy my acetone online. This way I don't have to take the water from regular acetone. It's already done for me.

PM if you want the link to the website where I buy mine.

100% pure acetone is like 200 proof ethanol. It sucks water from the atmosphere and becomes diluted very quickly. Who knows if the seal is that tight. I would doubt it. The smallest amount of water can dissolve quite a bit of coke.

went ahead with the home depot acetone as SWIM had some left over cola to wash . It went well there wasnt a substantial loss , letting it dry. will get back to you fine gentleman after its done.

100%?

Anything close to 100% is way to high. I think the MSDS is bought mostly pure but then diluted/adulterated by H. Depo

Also buying acetone can be kind of sketchy.

Harm reduction. Don't make your own funeral Pryor. Just dry with a hair dryer, unless you really know you shit and the danger you could be taking with such a high concentration.

What's dangerous about using 100% acetone?

I'm not trying to be a dick, I just have no idea what dangers would be.

If you could go into a bit more detail Bell Ringer, I think it would really help people out here.

don't think so

I seriously doubt that 100% acetone is sold at a hardware store in the US. o you live in the US?

yeah , united states.

the only thing i can figure is that it says 100%. however, since its for industrial purposes they may be granted leniency for the msds and be allowed to say 100 percent when its actually 97%.

this would be similar to how the fda doesnt require companies to put calorie counts or other nutrition facts if its under a certain amount of each.

also i apologize, its not home depot branded, it is direct from the company from the link provided. home depot just sells it.

^ For one its extremely flammable/explosive.

So, as most coke users love to do, smoking a cigarette to calm the nerves while using 100% acetone would definitely result in an explosion/fire? I C.

Sounds like you better have a good handle on how to use dangerous chemicals, etc.

Be careful. I'm not saying "don't do it", just be careful and read up as much as you can.

These are the specs on the one I use. I don't think any company manufacturs 100% acetone. No one could do that because even when you open the lid and keep it off, moisture would get into the acetone.

Assay (C3H6O; Anhydrous Basis) Min. 99.0%
MAXIMUM LIMITS
Specific Gravity @ 25°C 0.789
Water 0.5%
Nonvolatile Residue 0.004%
Readily Oxidizable Substances To pass test

Even straight from a chemical lab it is 99% anhydrous and cotains 0.5% of water. But in the entire volume of acetone, the water is almost obsolete. So I don't think anything is 100%, there is always that little bit of moisture.

I omitted that because I thought it was implied/known.

BTW if this is news to anyone considering 'tone than don't fuck with it or study basic science and chem.

If you were to buy anhydrous acetone, if you crake the bottle at STP (I expect you would) then it will instantly start to absorb H2O from the atmosphere.

^ I'm not trying to one-up or correct you, just clarify for those who know less about the topic:

I assume that says "anhydrous" acetone, which is, as the name describes, acetone without water in it. And STP in this case isn't a band or motor oil, its "standard temperature and pressure."
