WASHINGTON — Once the glitterati's drug of choice, cocaine appears to have become a has-been drug, forcing drug cartels enriched from trafficking the white powder to find new markets and diversify their illicit products. Between 2006 and 2010, domestic cocaine use declined 37 percent, according to the latest National Survey on Drug Use and Health. That's no blip on the screen.

The numbers "should be heralded as basically very good news about cocaine," said U.S. drug czar R. Gil Kerlikowske, director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
While seizures of cocaine along the border were in decline, those for methamphetamines (as well as the cartels' traditional cash cows, marijuana and heroin) went up.

I think the pharms available today have changed people's tastes a bit. Amphetamine and opiates both are very available both in pure, pharmaceutical form.

And there was bath salts and drugs like MDPV easily available and much cheaper

From my understanding (I've never done cocaine, don't plan on it) coke is incredibly overpriced for a shitty high. I have a buddy who kicked a coke addiction a couple years ago and said in the end, it really isn't worth it because it is so expensive and the high lasts such a short time compared to other stimulants.

People don't have to settle for overpriced, cut-to-shit drugs any more. The explosion of the RC market around the world means people have access to very pure and really quite decent chemicals.

I never liked the whole coke drug anyway . Expensive as shit , usually cut and doesn't even last long .

Was always a fail drug in my eyes and I've always picked doing amphetamines over it (not meth )

Id like to try cocaine to have done it but i'm never paying what it costs i tell you that....i've got no idea how a drug that costs at least 2x more than the "competitor" street stim (methamphetamine), and lasts far shorter with what ive been told is a medicore or just meh high.......
and i doubt any stimulant is comparable to smoking methamphetamine anyway (in terms of epic win factor...)
or at least when i smoked the win was so goddamn fucking epic.

Pure cocaine should be more readily available. Even if cartels have to increase the price.

Oh piss off Gil.

Exactly, they should sell it cheaper and not cut it so much and they probably wouldn't lose so many customers. Unfortunately the one's who are probably going to suffer most from this are the farmers.

Meth's great, but I bet crack is even more intense, even if it is much more short-lived. I'd try it if I could find some coke, I don't even mind about the price for a go or two at it, but I figure the chances of getting burned are really high, unless you know someone.

I think there are a multitude of reasons:

  • First and foremost, the internet and information sharing, people are becoming more accurately informed about cocaine and not just from friends, movies and dealers anymore. Basically, folks are smartening up by being informed and realizing cocaine is probably the worst bang-for-buck drug out there.
  • In conjunction with the above statement, the internet is also informing folks as to which drugs are better, healthier, longer-lasting and provide the desired effects, which will drive cocaine users to try other 'better suiting' drugs like meth, MDMA, Adderall, etc..
  • Furthermore in conjunction with the above, the internet now makes it possible to buy cheaper, more effective and fucking LEGAL drugs and research chemicals that blow cocaine out of the water.
  • Anyone who has used a lot of cocaine, or has been using it for a long time, probably has figured out by now most if not all reasonably-accesible coke is cut to fuck all and is LITERALLY overpriced flour, and has nearly no recreational value whatsoever.

yes!! =D

I would gladly pay a premium if I was able to obtain certified lab-grade cocaine. However I have vowed to never waste money on it again. Why should I pay for a minuscule amount of some random powder that could literally be anything, could be rat poison for all I know, and even if it is above average, it'll still be "Meh..." and will barely last one evening....when for the same exactl price I could get a whole week's worth of fire-grade weed that I KNOW for a FACT will get me high, as well as my friends AND my goldfish?

Cocaine FTL!

I am just going to point out the obvious. No one is using coke anymore b/c heroin has become the new drug of choice among most drug users, especially after the whole O.C. epidemic that got so many people addicted to opiates that would of never got into them if it weren't for prescription opiates. So now everyone is into opiates, pharms, benzos, heroin, and you all know im right.. and for the stimulant lovers out there they seem to like meth again for some reason... coke was the only stim worth doing imo b/c it didn't last long, but then again I generally hate stimulants.

Meh, it was good while it lasted... I mean being able to get my hands on clean, high purity snow still in rock/chunk - right off a brick - form (a long time ago). Yeah blow's never been a poor man's drug of choice but I'd still pay the amount I did per gram for the stuff I used to be able to get.
