Updated Forum Guidelines - Have a read

It's annoying cos it's not about suppressing people's thoughts or constructive opinions. It's just plain shit talking, and it's ridiculous that the mods have had to even bother re writing guidelines in order to deal with people being twats. U think the mods wanted to spend their own time and energy to make these amendments?

There's loads of decent, smart, caring and funny people here who probably can't be arsed joining in more often cos of the boring negative vibe.

It's nice to see that someone has seen them for what they are, so thank you for that Bob.. Or maybe you're as unintelligent and uneducated as EADD staff,

What really saddens me is the lack of understanding of what freedom of speech means for us druggies, to have somewhere, some platform to really say what we want / need to say and not be punished for it like we are in most of our societies. This is a sad day to lose even more of that little freedom the Internet and this forum allows us

Your post saddens me. I'm suprised such a bright and educated person such as yourself has managed to turn an amendment in the guidelines to basically cover blatant trolling, to your/our freedom of speech to post on this board has somehow now gone..

I'm not too happy about the new adjustment to the guidelines (but hey fuck me..) because I and everyone else in EADD wasn't consulted about them. Consultation is very important when you want agreement, however you've went ahead and imposed new rules without consultation for and behalf of the users of this forum without their input. Well good luck on imposing your rules.

Let's see how the implementation and transparency of the new guidelines work... Alas, my faith in the mods isn't great, neither are they bright enough or educated to deal with the deep issues that come with modding EADD. Though maybe new guidelines will make up for that :\

What rules have you taken issue with exactly?? The one which basically means don't be persistently horrible or disruptive? I can think of a number of occasions you've taken issue with that behaviour, so what's the issue?

I'm sure some of you will disagree but EADD staff are some of, if not the most easy going with regards enforcing rules and handing our infractions. I don't see these rules changing that either...

OK, you want some input into the guidelines. Go, discuss. They are not set in stone. Let's hear what you've got and maybe we can work something out.

Not set in stone, and open for discussion? You're saying rules is not rules innit?
Now that's a voice of moderation (except maybe the bit where you called Bob unintelligent and uneducated, though he did have it coming)

I'd have to say I was quite shocked by some of the comments, not so much from others, but from some I took them to be personally hurtful. There was no need for that. As for being uneducated, which mod would that be? Or is it simply all of us? Curious.

Can't say I'm too happy at the way a simple change has been received. Nor am I happy at being made a target. Yes, it's just the internet we've heard it all before but I'm not sure if you're aware of this, there are actual people on the other side of that keyboard who actually have feelings. Meh, most of it is like water off a ducks back for me. I'm not everyone though, I'm just me.

Koneko was clearly turned down for a mod position. It must be something along those lines.

The new rules sound absolutely fine to me, it's just the kinda shit that happened to SHM that needs ironing out.

You need to get out more...

The last bit, in bold font. It's horseshit and shouldn't need to be appended to forum rules as its content is essentially implied earlier in the list.

The issue is that some people who use this forum are sensitive as. And some are a little coarse. That's just the way it is. Moderators have a shitty job, granted, but can also begin having power trips at times and that paragraph seems to basically grant licence to any mod to act as the thought police and ban people for perceived or implied slights.

I do admit I got upset over these iniatially n contacted relative parties privately with thoughts. However, after considerable thought, n Scotchy has said it first, it just means no trolling. Maybe, this is just my opinion, it may have been better worded "No trolling (examples of trolling could be posts that intend to disrupt general smooth running of threads, attention seeking, manipulation, passive-aggressive behaviour") i think mods have been good here in given us a thread to discuss these n address concerns. I think it's lovely of Scotchy to give people the chance to offer suggestions of possible changes.

Sadie please try not to get upset. You're all friends n have recently gone on holiday with one another. My advice would be for yourself n other parties to talk through stuff on your own n don't let stuff on BL come between you as that would be a shame. End of the day emotions are high n people say stuff in temper they may not necessarily mean. I should own the trophy for doing such things. We all have our stresses, issues, day-to-stuff n I'm sure no one set out to hurt you. You're one of EADD's most calming assets n always there to help others in need. You need a hug ((((Sadie)))) xxxxx

Also, sorry to be nitpicky but OCD n all that. Can someone please edit that "ecstasy information website" to "harm reduction?" or whatever. It may have innitially been an ecstasy site but it's not now it's concerning all sorts of drugs; opiates, stims, psychs etc. And with new members possibility reading the rules first it may be off-putting. They may read that n think "it's an ecstasy site I take opiates, I'm on the wrong site."

Sorry, not trying to be funny but that bugs me everytime I read the rules :)

I love you all very much n I hope this doesn't come out the wrong way as it's not intended to be anything other than from a good, caring place xxxxx

If it eases any of your worries, I don't believe one rogue Mod can do anything. It would be consulted, discussed and brought up with anyone in question that this would in the future apply to. This would not be a case of, you pissed me off so, you're gone. Not in the least. Not even bloody close!

Why are you always so angry? I'm not being horrible but I'm really concerned ?

You really don't know me at all do you? I'm not angry. Just passing on information. Have a look through my past posts, I think you'll find I'm far from an angry person. My actual anger tends to come out in the form of comedy value rather than anything else.

You come across kind of cranky sometimes no offence. You jumped down my throat saying i kept saying everyone will get banned which i didn't.

Well, I'm not and I'm truly sorry if you felt that way. I never intended to imply that. If this is the way you feel then I am very sorry. I honestly would not want you to be offended.

I really wouldn't take the comments to heart. Her previous post that Shambles had to edit (and then got flamed for that, poor fella) was really harsh on 2 prominent posters as she attempted to ostracize and embarrass them. Some deliberate malice going on, and i've have no idea why - very out of character. Maybe she's drunk? lol I don't know where she gets "uneducated" from, with the likes of Shambles in the squad. Sadie doesn't take drugs, but i've noted to be one of the most supportive mods to members publicly and behind the scenes i've ever seen... which compliments the wealth of drug knowedge already prevalent.

Disagreeing with a change is fine - and i've already expressed my opposition - but the amount of blatant disrespect throughout this thread is appalling.

No worries ? tbh the only reason i showed a bit of dislike to the new rules is i thought it was gonna effect the atmosphere on here where everybody will be too scared to say anything on here for fear of getting banned. I can understand no sourcing etc but take freedom of speech away and it kills it.

Tbf EADD is the best sub forum the mods are easy going that's why i like posting in here. It pisses me off in some of the other forums seeing mods on a power trip banning people and closing threads for pathetic reasons.

Having said that, if I'm totally honest I'm a little disappointed at the ratio of 8)::?::D:8(:legitimate concerns this time around. If the sky actually starts falling in then the exits are here --> there <-- and everywhere.

Anyhoo, as the saner folk out there have no doubt spotted......The presumption was common sense but it does seem abundantly clear such sense is very far from common ;)

This forum, if Gibberings is anything to go by, has suffered an 82% reduction in traffic in recent months. Maybe the official figures are a little less than that but I'd be willing to bet not by much if Ali can provide the stats over the last six months or so. They are certainly enough for you to claim yourself just last week Shambles that "EADD is dead" or words to that effect. Bearing that in mind, is it such a wise move to start pointing people to the exits (a boringly common tactic in these circumstances I've seen about a million times and the modern day equivalent of the right-winger shouting "Fuck off back to Cuba then mate if you don't like it")? (Or Julie saying 'run your own software then' like we're all of that technical competence). I expect more of you. (And Julie). I expect more of any moderator faced with a forum with a drop that may be as sharp as 80% in the last few months.

Likewise the patronisation of posters as either 'saner folk' or that 'common sense appears very far from common'. These are deeply insulting and patronising remarks to most of EADD's members and again, I don't see how this shows you in a great light. Such remarks, if anything, further run the risk of delapidating a forum that is relatively on its knees from more glorious days maybe 4-5 years ago.

I don't think this is how winning posters back works. Maybe you think the squirrel pictures do.

In summary? Less pointing to exits to rid the place of people you personally don't like. Less insults about those YOU perceive to have less common sense. Less squirrel pictures that appeal to, ooh, two of you? Pretty please?

I've posted less and less in this forum myself lately for want of any interesting debate. Many died, many left, many feel pushed to the margins. I don't think your post addresses that in any positive way at all.

Yea i was going to ask during my ban but didn't know if I was allowed. Having looked at the most recent stats of EADD posters n posters to forums in order of most posted would it be possible to have an update of the latest stats.

Edit sorry SHM beat me to it :)

Actually I agree with this wholeheartedly to be honest.
