Updated Forum Guidelines - Have a read

Oh, no...

People should be able to express themselves and voice their feelings, and if it's going to become so suppressive that you can't do that i'm leaving. I was accused of "attention seeking" recently, after speaking out against another poster who i felt was mis-using the board... so I can see where this one is heading...

I'll probably get infracted for this post now, coz it could go down as "disruptive", "passive aggressive" or even "attention seeking". In fact the former could probably be attributed to any poster on the forum; Wenlock made an example of Sadie and others earlier. We're all gonna break the rules as they are now so broad - but mods will have to pick and choose who they'd like to infract most. This isn't going to work.

Hear hear old chap.

"call them out" guess which resident yank had loads of input in this load of tripe..

I had absolutely nothing to do with the new rules. You are, however showing your proper colours.

Bravo sir, bravo.

Raas, there was nothing about your post that was really that was off putting. You've been lovely as of late. Some not so much and it has been noted.

Well i sort of agree with you two (Raas and Wenlock) about this bit in isolation: "Passive aggressive, manipulative and attention seeking behaviour causes equally as much drama, we are not a television soap. " - very difficult to draw any lines with those things, or even to ascribe conscious intent.

In conjunction with this following bit: "No matter the style of behaviour, if it is repeated, and deemed to have no other intent than to cause hurt and/or disruption then action may be taken." The whole paragraph sort of seems fair (depending on who does the deeming), but the slippery question of intent remains.

Though with this bit added: "We're all human and we don't leave our emotions in another room when we come online, however, only so much can be tolerated before it affects the board as a whole. " I guess the question is how wide that tolerance is in practice. It's a difficult call either way - i like the idea of unmoderated forums, but i prefer being in moderated ones as a rule

I'd be more concerned if moderating were to change the nature of EADD as is into a more impersonal soley HR-based area

I knew it was Shambles because his last words to me were " I really see no reason for your constant accusations of attention-seeking other than... well... attention-seeking."

And now the words "attention seeking behaviour" have been added to the guidelines; which means he's giving himself leverage to unleash the infraction button more heavy handidly.

I respect that some negative posting occurrs and commend you for trying to deal with it,.... but, well basically this:

Forgive me for not believing a word of any new updated rules. Let me explain.

The 'rules' matter not one jot.

What matters is whether you are a moderator or not.

A few weeks ago I was given a ban in CEP for using the words "Don't make me laugh" to the moderator Cashflow Donkey. He told me I "would learn respect" before I was allowed to post in his forum. As he gave me this lesson in respect he also saw fit to call me an asshole (something for which he belatedly apologised by PM about a week later).

I appealed, and Ebola, as admin, made it clear the ban was upheld. United front and all that. (Many others supported me calling the ban ridiculous and I thank them for that).

Fast forward a couple of weeks. In debating the bombing of the Medecins Sans Frontier crew in Afghanistan I called out Thujone, another mod, for victim blaming MSF. All I said was 'your view is a disgrace to the good men and women of MSF'.

Thujone replied. Called me a cunt. Told me to go fuck myself. Called me some other expletive Ive forgotten.

Result? I got another PM from Cashflow Donkey saying this was my fault, that my posting style caused this.

United front. Moderators of the site unite. You only have a website to destroy.

I've definitely had enough. I'm sure some will cheer. I can't be doing with a site that tells me to learn respect then blames me for one of their own calling me a cunt and telling me to get fucked.

Updated guidelines you say?

Where's the vomit emoji?

Bye.

Raas: More importantly, i said this: "It's a difficult call either way - i like the idea of unmoderated forums, but i prefer being in moderated ones as a rule" And whatever it is it isn't a court of law or a democracy. (EDIT: as is even clearer from that SHM)

(i may have missed some subtext (don't mind me [backs away...]))

you think wrong baby puppy...

Does it really matter how the rules were drawn up? Rules is rules innit?

Bobby, no that was my heartfelt opinion at the time. Bit nervous i'll be sent in the sin bin a few too many times coz i am quite outspoken and kinda like it that way; hence disposition to guidelines.

Well that was more boring to read than the guidelines itself.

*I jest, matey ;) valid point. I knows what ya mean
... and on that note... realised far too much time of my life wasted reading and discussing forum guidelines for tonight. >> out

(Sorry to be negative and sound all anti-authoritarian, I just fear the new rules give certain mods leverage to infract more freely and that will become negative to the board as a whole)

And it seems Raas's arse was the first, to be beaten with the Moderator's, long black cane...

I wonder which brave bluelighter will dare step up next =D

Sadie's neither middle-aged or menopausal, so stop with the slagging please - she's a lovely young women in her prime who's decided to give up her free time to modding EADD. So quit with the slagging ok.

The new rules don't surprise me. How else are the staff able to deal with the likes of *snip* or *snip* without them? That doesn't make them right, actually it makes them all wrong and I'm sure the consequences of them will show this. Let's see how the current staff deal and implement these new rules before us members cast judgement eh... I know we may have fears and I get that but just maybe we'll find the new rules are unworkable and divisive.

What really saddens me is the lack of understanding of what freedom of speech means for us druggies, to have somewhere, some platform to really say what we want / need to say and not be punished for it like we are in most of our societies. This is a sad day to lose even more of that little freedom the Internet and this forum allows us..l

I'm not too happy about the new adjustment to the guidelines (but hey fuck me..) because I and everyone else in EADD wasn't consulted about them. Consultation is very important when you want agreement, however you've went ahead and imposed new rules without consultation for and behalf of the users of this forum without their input. Well good luck on imposing your rules.

Let's see how the implementation and transparency of the new guidelines work... Alas, my faith in the mods isn't great, neither are they bright enough or educated to deal with the deep issues that come with modding EADD. Though maybe new guidelines will make up for that :\

And alas my dearest, that also counts you too <3

You're certainly old enough and educated enough, shame you're such a dick head :p

I would say given the average life expectancy around here middle aged is about right ;)

He's "on one", unfortunately. When he starts making jibes about those whove passed away here, its coz he knows he's in the wrong and has fully initiated "troll mode" as some kind of defence. Its like dealing with a child; best not give him any attention.

Something like

Yep, at this rate that's how many regular members of EADD who will be posting :\

You're getting all upset about the wrong thing here Raas. Focus my man, focus.. OTW isn't the issue, he's actually ok in a weird kinda way 8(

Im sure he's passed his 1st grade in school at least :p even if he's a prick, he's an educated one ;)
