No it was another poster who put up the pick of the pods that look like mini-granny smith apples.
I know, I meant to respond to both of them separately in the same post but the quote got messed up for the person with the pod image.

lol yes they are, already got a confirmation on shroomery man.
Anyways I'll just dose the tea with 8 of these pods:

If anyone else thinks they're not somni's, holla, cause ya never know.
They look like somnis to me, but if you look at the little one you see the crown erect? that means it is ripe and near peak morphine content.
On the huge pod the crown is still rounded down to the edges of the pod, this pod has a way to go before reaching peak morphine content
Well, even before the pod shortage there were plenty of weak/inactive pods on the market so it doesn't shock me at all when someone says that they found PPT unimpressive or didn't really catch a buzz.So far I'm pretty disappointed with pod tea. I guess I may have just been unlucky and received a really shit batch, but I've yet to experience a decent, lengthy high from them and now find myself 'chasing the dragon' 1 week after my first attempt. I started with 2 large pods (about the size of a tennis ball) to test the waters, that got me nowhere; 5 pods gave me a feeling like a codeine high starting to come on for 30 minutes then died; 7 pods (3 large, 2 medium, and 2 smaller ones slightly bigger than golf balls) gave me a pretty nice high for about an hour, then I started nodding pretty hard for about an hour and then it went. So like I say I'm yet to feel anything close the the 12+ hour highs that have been reported. I've not even felt anything close to a proper opiate high for more than an hour.
I'm pretty sure I've got my recipe correct:
- boil 2 cups of water (about 650 - 700ml)
- allow water to cool for 10-15 minutes to avoid the possibility of destroying alkaloids with boiling water
- Add the water to desired amount of pods (grinded to a powder) and steep for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally
- filter through a sieve, straining the grounds to get all the water out
The resulting water has been very dark each time, with bits of grounds which made it through the sieve. What could be going wrong? I've been taking codeine about twice a week for the past few months and my tolerance is ~500mg, though I haven't had any since last sunday - 2 days before I first tried the pods. I would have thought, even with my tolerance that 7 pods would be enough, no? Someone in another thread suggested eating the grounds, which I did try with the leftover grounds after the attempt with 5 pods... but I would really rather not try that again, it was a struggle to say the least *shudder*.
Any thoughts on what could be going wrong with my tea?![]()
First of all, I have to say it.. Are you trying to have a seizure from the tramadol? Come on man that's not safe at all and you're playing russian roulette taking doses like that. I know you already are aware of that risk but still I can't help but say it.DHCuser said:I have ordered 0.5kg of dried poppy heads labelled "medium/large". Just a few questions, roughly how many will I expect to have? Also, I have a high tolerance to tramadol, like 700mg is a typical use to get high, spread over a few hours (stupid I know). So how much will this affect my tolerance to the tea? Since gtramadol supposedly isn't a "true" opiate.
Lastly, how many of the pods should I make into tea for my first time?
And erm, SHOULD THEY LOOK LIKE THIS?!?!!!one
I can't imagine why the pods you have would have you nodding and only last 2 hours. If I catch a nod on pods, I'm guaranteed to be high for a LONG time.
Thanks mate. And what about the black marks? They look a bit like mould which is a worry for something going in my body.Honestly those look a bit odd compared to what I'm used to seeing. Just because they're so oblong with teeny caps - but the caps DO look somni like - it's just that they're usually more in proportion to the pod and the pods are usually more tapered at the top. There are many different species even within somni family though so my hunch from that somewhat unclear pic is that they are the right kind.

I'm drinking it and getting the weighty feeling I get in my muscles whenever I have opiates...but tea is meant to be bitter???
Oh lordy this stuff tastes awful, seriously awful. Almost like the taste of morning glory seeds bleughhh
