A TEENAGER from Aldershot who claims his life has been ‘shattered’ by an addiction to legal highs, has called for their sale to be banned.
Stewart Denmark, 16, of North Town, told the News & Mail how he became so hooked on products that he could buy legally over the counter, that he would take them every half an hour. Now he is attempting to fight his addiction, but was struck with withdrawal symptoms just hours after quitting the Annihilation and Mary Joy. Now he says he is struggling with severe anxiety, mood swings, sickness, paranoia and constant nausea, as the drugs leave his body. “It’s completely taken my life away from me,” he said. “This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me and I want to warn other people before it does this to them.” Stuart, who has been diagnosed with attention deficit disorder, admits he struggled to ‘feel normal’ at times, which led him to drug use. He then went to Skunkworks, an Aldershot shop that sells legal highs with his friends and purchased the drugs, and was able to buy them over the counter.
During his rehabilitation, he claims he underwent drug tests which found his blood contained traces of amphetamines and opium.
